OUR LUXURY WRIST WATCH MAKING DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Lines that Flow, Complex Curves, Precision Mechanics
Everything that Geoffrey Roth has ever made, whether it be his early wooden boxes or nowadays his jewelry, has clean lines and a timeless beauty and is made to last a lifetime. His watches have lines that flow, surfaces that curve, forms that make sense, a design that has simple elegance. The sur
faces are complex curves, difficult to program and even more difficult to machine. His wish was to make a watch that is solid and sturdy and at the same time beautiful: he calls it a good workhorse of a watch with a good solid Swiss mechanical movement that guarantees years of reliable service. He chooses only the best materials and only the best companies, mostly Swiss, to supply some of the materials. Whether Geoffrey's love for watches and excellent quality has anything to do with the fact that his great-great grandfather was born and raised in Switzerland before he immigrated to Buffalo, New York, is not certain. It is interesting though that an American with Swiss roots goes back to a tradition that established itself in Switzerland in the 1700's. As we all know Switzerland today is again the world leader in fine mechanical watches. Although America had some great watch making factories like American Watch Company, Hamilton Watch Company or Waltham Watch Company in the 1900's, today you will not find any of these well established companies from that time. Something new is happening today in America: a few visionaries have undertaken the challenging process to resurrect the art of fine watch making in the US. Geoffrey Roth with his company Geoffrey Roth Watch Engineering is one of them.
