Treasure hunters, this one was fun. I spent the morning wandering through the Landings Rummage Sale, and it felt like stepping into a giant open-air attic where every table held a surprise.
The first thing that catches your eye is the sheer variety. One table glittered with rows of vintage brass candlesticks, I bought a lot of those, crystal pieces, and decorative items that looked like they’d hosted decades of dinner parties. A few steps away, the vibe shifted completely to gardening gear, watering cans, planters, and tools ready for a second life in someone else’s backyard, including mine, I have an addition to galvanized metal.
Under the big tent there were stacks of kitchen items, housewares, and the kind of practical treasures people always end up needing. Out under the trees, baskets and garden supplies were scattered like a rustic display straight out of a Southern garden market.
What made the event especially enjoyable was the atmosphere. People were chatting, comparing finds, and pointing out good deals to friends. It had that relaxed community feel where half the fun is the conversation and the other half is the thrill of spotting something unexpected. Not to say there weren’t those who were shopping like it was there job.
Events like this remind you that rummage sales are part history lesson, part treasure hunt. Every item has a past, and for a few dollars it might become part of someone else’s story.
If you enjoy estate sales, antiques, or just the joy of the hunt, the Landings Rummage Sale is absolutely worth a visit. Comfortable shoes recommended, dress for rain or shine, bring a wagon, some boxes and maybe extra bags, for the finds you didn’t plan on bringing home, did I forget be certain to bring a bigger truck!!!
