Like the Hare in my previous 2 videos, the Flying Fish were inspired by floor tiles of different critters in the Palais des Papes in Avignon.
More Fishies coming soon.
For those of you who want an update on what we are doing about the Hare, we are going to try two more ideas, incorporating your comments about the Hare's body and also seeing if a solid, uninscribed background (in 2 versions) showcases the critter more compellingly. My creative partner will share new drawings with me soon and I'll share those with you to include you in a peek at our product development process. After drawings come wax carvings, then casting a metal master, creating a mold, and then casting multiples and trying out different finishes.

Medieval Cute - Hare on knitwear.
I am working on this interpretation of a hare handpainted onto floor tiles in the Palais des Papes in Avignon.
Yesterday you asked to see them on knitwear so here they are.
What do you think? Have your opinions changed about what you like best? Please let me know in the comments.
This morning I video-chatted with my collaborator in Bali and I requested to try another 2 iterations of this Hare design with a plain, un-pierced background as well as a plain background with a tiny bezel-like frame. He will send me drawings eith some tweaks and then they will go tonour wax-carver.

This Hare stud button is based on some floor tiles we saw in the Palais des Papes in Avignon, France on our trip in the spring to see our house in Sainte-CroiX-Vallee-Francaise in the Cevennes.
We made one version with a cutout around the Hare. The other version we added an inscribed grape vine design derived from frescoes on one of the walls of the Papal Palace. We made both of these iterations in glossy and satin finishes.
I'm not convinced that either one is wholly successful. What do you think? Please let us know how successful you think these are and what you would do as a 3rd or 4th iteration.

First peek at a new design that is almost ready for release - Castle Wall Neckpiece.
This pattern will be ready later in the week or early next week for free with a stud button purchase.
Pictured here in two versions, each one skein of a DK weight yarn worked on US6 needles.
The one I'm wearing is Hand Dyed Yarn Spectra Color Wheel in Tonal Grey.
The one I'm holding is made with Magpie Fibers DK in the color Aurora Borealis.
The stud buttons featured in this video are as yet unnamed. I created this design as part of my Ainu Collection, inspired by applique motifs used by Ainu people in Japan to adorn the cuffs, hemlines, and necklines of traditional robes.
These stud button x-forms are so stunning both in the simplicity of the shape snd also the delicacy of the detail on the face of the fastener. Go to juldesigns.com to take a look.
