Every once in a while an old jewelry box pops up and with the advent of the smartphone I got into the habit of checking to see if some of these Jewelry shops are still around. I’ve probably searched for a hundred or so overall. Sadly most of the time, these shops are no longer active. Take that box from W.E. Cunningham & Son from Louisa Virginia…established right after the Civil War. It leaves me melancholy. Some day, it will be our box and our shop that was swallowed by time. 🥲

Thanks to everyone for so many messages. 🙏Yes, we hope you don’t get whatever this bug is. It starts as a hard to breath cold, then a dry caugh that will drive you crazy for a couple nights, then you’ll get a blast of fever and chills and end it off with all that in reverse plus some stomach problems. Amanda’s stuff broke yesterday. My cold is still there but it’s way better and I think Mom is through it except she has some sleep to catch up on! Walking around with the hand sanitizer might be a good idea right now!

🐴 Jewel thief smashes store — then flees on a donkey

In Kayseri, Turkey, a 26-year-old man allegedly used a forklift to ram the front of a jewelry store in the early morning hours of February 9, 2026.

Police say he stole around 150 grams of gold jewelry before making a getaway that no one expected — riding off on a donkey.

Security cameras captured the bizarre escape, and the footage quickly went viral.

Authorities later tracked him down, arrested him, and reportedly recovered the stolen gold, some of which had been buried.

A forklift entry.

And a robbery that turned into one of the strangest getaway stories of the year.
