Carat is the C everyone asks about first, but perhaps the one that matters least.

Carat refers to a diamond’s weight not its size, and that distinction is everything. Read that again! Two diamonds of the same carat weight can look completely different depending on how they’re cut and how their weight is distributed.

A well-cut 0.90ct diamond will often look larger and more brilliant than a poorly cut 1.10ct stone. The number you see on the certificate doesn’t tell the whole story. There’s also what I call the “magic sizes,” 0.50ct, 0.75ct, and 1.00 carat. Prices jump at these thresholds. A 0.95ct diamond is virtually indistinguishable from a 1ct to the naked eye, but the price difference can be significant. Shopping smart means understanding what you’re actually looking at, not just what the number says.

It’s a forever kind of thing, and it’s been the sweetest journey to witness. 🤍

We first met Anna back in 2024, when she and her best friend Danielle came in to look around and see what SK was all about. While finding the ring wasn’t exactly the plan…that’s exactly what happened. Complete awe, utter joy, the kind of reaction you never forget.

The moment she slipped this OOAK antique champagne pear diamond on her finger, it was game over. Love at first sight. It also happened to fit perfectly, which honestly felt like a sign.

Anna told us she knew Josh would be her husband one day, but that it simply wasn’t time yet. She hoped this ring would still be here when the timing was right. She left that day with a camera roll full of photos and that unmistakable giddy feeling.

Then, shortly after her visit, she noticed the ring was no longer available. Naturally, she asked what happened, and we told her it had found its forever home. We promised we’d help her find something just as special when her time came. 🤭

What Anna didn’t know was that Josh had reached out to us almost immediately after her appointment with a message along the lines of: “I heard there’s a ring I need to get.” The ultimate green flag. The man had a plan, he knew Anna was endgame before they were even dating (iykyk).

Fast forward to March 2026, and our team was starting to wonder when exactly this champagne beauty would finally make her grand appearance on a certain someone’s hand…Well, you all know what happened next. 💛

Josh pulled off the most beautiful surprise engagement and somehow managed to place the very ring Anna thought was gone forever back onto her finger. Some things are simply meant to be.

We are beyond overjoyed for these two and so honored to have been a small part of their story.

Motherhood in all its forms changes us.

Today, we’re celebrating the women who raised us, shaped us, supported us, and loved us through every version of ourselves. The mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, chosen mothers, soon-to-be mothers, and the women who became home without ever asking for the title.

We’re also holding space for the tenderness this day can carry. For those missing their mothers, longing to become mothers, or those navigating complicated relationships, quietly making it through today.

There is no one way to experience Mother’s Day, just as there is no one way to mother. Sometimes it’s raising children, sometimes it’s showing up endlessly for the people you love, even in seasons that asked too much of you.

Jewelry has always felt deeply connected to that sentiment for me, the way we mark love, memory, milestones, and the people who shape us most. The pieces we reach for every day often become tiny reminders of where we come from, who we carry with us, and who we’re becoming.

So today, we celebrate all of it. The joy, the grief, the gratitude, the longing, the love.
