Designing a home in California Wine Country goes beyond how it looks. It’s about how it feels to live in it every day. The best spaces feel welcoming, comfortable, and naturally aligned with your lifestyle.

There’s a common assumption that luxury interiors need to feel formal or untouchable. But at Revelry, luxury takes on a different tone. It’s quieter. More grounded. More connected to real life. Our approach is always to create spaces that feel refined without feeling rigid—homes that are functional, inviting, and easy to live in. This is what I often refer to as laidback luxury: spaces that feel as good as they look.

Open concept kitchen, dining, and living spaces are incredibly common in newer Wine Country Homes. While people tend to debate the merits of open concepts, one thing is for sure—they can be surprisingly tricky to design. Without walls to define each area, every decision—from furniture scale to lighting to layout—has to work together so the space feels cohesive rather than chaotic.

It’s been a while, so I wanted to share a re-introduction. I’m Dana, the founder and principal designer behind Revelry Interior Design.

After 15 years designing homes from San Francisco to Nantucket, I returned home to Sonoma County to create spaces that capture the heart of Wine Country living, elevated, livable, and full of personality. My approach is rooted in honesty, practicality, and good humor.

“Revelry” comes from my two kids, Evelyn and Henry — and fittingly describes the energy I bring to every project: lively, intentional, and always grounded in real life.

They love to cook, gather, and linger in the kitchen, so we needed a space that felt welcoming yet refined. The green cabinetry with brass hardware ties beautifully to the natural landscape outside, while the soft counters and backsplash keep things light and timeless.
