Simon Willard was one of the most important early American clockmakers and is best known for inventing the Patent Timepiece, later called the banjo clock. Born in Grafton, Massachusetts, in 1753, he became the most celebrated member of the Willard family of clockmakers and worked primarily in Roxbury (now part of Boston).
Authentic Simon Willard clocks are highly sought after by collectors and museums. Original signed examples, especially banjo clocks and tall-case clocks, can command substantial prices at auction because of their rarity and historical significance. Only a few thousand authentic Willard banjo clocks were produced.
I am sharing My Original 1810s Simon Willard 8 Day Banjo Clock except the glasses were repainted by the well-known clock glass painter.
