Open to professionals, teachers, church musicians, and students, the San Diego Summer Choral Festival gives participants and audiences a taste of choral repertoire from different musical time periods, in multiple languages, and diverse styles through performance. Dr. Patrick Walders, Artistic Director, and distinguished faculty made up of performers, voice teachers, and scholars, lead participant
in voice building sessions, sectional and tutti rehearsals, individual voice lessons, and topical lectures each day. Every evening concludes with a performance of some kind whether it’s the Thursday evening Informal Faculty Showcase Concert, the Friday evening formal concert by the Festival Faculty and San Diego Pro Arte Voices, ensemble-in-residence, or the Saturday Festival Finale Concert, where participants perform the pieces they’ve worked on over the course of three days in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Pacific Beach). Works from the classical canon to unknown gems to new compositions attracts all vocal musicians with varying abilities. Previous choral experience is preferred, but we will certainly not discourage the beginning choral musician or enthusiast!
