For the last year I’ve had the opportunity to further my research concerning craft knowledges in Puerto Rico thanks to a generous fellowship from the .
I am thrilled to share with you and article presenting some of this research.
My professional career started as a historian and archivist way before I veered into craft and art. This background is fundamental in my desire to put into dialogue historical context and contemporary expressions. And while my grad work and other writing concentrates on that it was a pleasure to dive back in to my roots of archival research and history.
This year long project ( presentation coming in summer) and article couldn’t have happen if not for the support of my community!! Thanks to for helping me think through the ideas for the proposal! To and for your thoughtful readings, edits, and conversation. And to my best friend of more years that I can count for helping me translate!! I love you all. Thanks also to everyone and !!

Slowly but steadily getting ready for ‘s first exhbition next month ! For the exhibit I’ve been revisitng and been inspired by the first jewelry pieces I made before deciding to go and study contemporary jewelry .jewellery . Back then I wire wrapped beads into chains and poured resin on tiny collages I did on iced tea caps. I didn’t know how to use a jeweler’s saw nor a soldering torch. Much less what contemporary jewelry was! Finding those tools and that world was finding love and it allowed me to explore and create in new ways. Revisitng some of the aesthetics of that early work feels right as I come back to making after this year of being away from the bench ❤️.
