Handcrafted Jewelry and Accessories Arctic Poppy Designs was created in 2011 by Alaskan artist Melissa Strautins. No two are exactly alike, ever.

Many designs have been created from hand drawn sketches. Each design and letter is stamped individually by hand, not by a machine, resulting in more of an organic, handmade look rather than a uniform, machine made appearance. I absolutely love creating things for Karly because not only does she gives me creative freedom to pretty much do whatever I want, it’s also fun to get feedback from her and hear which designs her customers sn**ch up first.

This time last year I was gearing up to start months of chemotherapy 😵‍💫. This year, I am incredibly grateful to be back to making jewelry again!

When the idea in your head turns out to be even cuter than you expected 🌼

Now all I want to do is try to make more charms for my birks!

I’ll give these a test run to make sure they don’t rub/hurt my foot and then I’ll make a little collection of them to sell probably in the next few weeks 🐟

More than likely in copper, but I may make some fancy ones from sterling and even add some stones?? So fun.

I buy all of my materials from small businesses here in the U.S. It’s one of the ways I try to give back to the makers, families, and local communities that keep this industry going. It may be more expensive and take a little longer, but it matters.

I’ve ordered from for years, but during cancer treatment I stepped away from business for a while. I recently placed my first order back and was so surprised to find a handwritten note tucked inside my package. They noticed I hadn’t ordered in some time and even included a discount code for my next purchase. 😭❤️

This is why shopping small matters. Behind these businesses are real people who notice, care, and add a personal touch you just won’t find with the big box companies.
