Marianne Goodell Artist-Jeweler I create one-of-a-kind enamel jewelry and objects rooted in symbolism and inspired by natural forms. Those symbols became a powerful force for me.

The work draws from totems, process, and a sustained studio practice. I have always loved art and jewelry, but did not set out to be an artist. Typical thinking in a traditional Greek family was to have some type of marketable skill. Therefore I went to college majored in Business Management and worked as computer network consultant. Eventually, working in a technical field was no longer fulfilling, so I decided to pursue my creative side. Periodically I suffered from depression and learned to turn to symbols for guidance in healing my perceived deficiencies. When I decided to pursue my full time art career, I knew I wanted my creations to illicit the same response in the people who bought my art and jewelry. When I set out to create something, I often think of an emotion that I want to portray and usually determine which symbols would best convey that emotion. After I start working, the piece begins to create itself through an intuitive process. Invoking healing and growth is one of my main focuses and hopes you can be inspired to grow and heal as well. My work has been published in two books, three magazines, and has won two awards. In early 2018, "The Path" is going to grace the cover of a book of poetry. I welcome commissions and also PM's about my WIP's. People have been known to buy my work before it's even done by messaging me. I wanted this tiny, hand-formed capsule to feel like a pocket-sized burst of energy. The lid features a detailed mandala that transitions through a radiant solar spectrum capturing a sense of wholeness and warmth. At just an inch square, it’s a quiet piece of functional art made to keep one tiny, irreplaceable treasure safe.

Colors and shapes dictated the enamels, the enamels dictated the settings. I’m calling these “waves of serenity”. Don’t they just feel calming?

I’ll be offering these earrings in Stephanie’s show on Facebook in November. Who wants a tag?

I think it’s only fitting, to show how from a scrap (the metaphor is a seedling), a flower grows and unfurls. In this case, the metal transforms from one form to another by being manipulated with heat. The transformation provides a backdrop for the unfurling.

I’ll be offering this pendant in Stephanie‘s November show. Who wants a tag?

Calla lilies are one of my favorite flowers. Most of my favorite flowers have a bit of substance to the blossom. There’s something firm and strong about them. Maybe It’s a metaphor for how I want to be, I’m not sure... Anyway, this calla lily is enameled in such a way where parts of the blossom rise above the surface of the base. It becomes a tactile experience when you run your finger across it.

And, it’s set in a way that makes it the lid of this container. Who wants a tag for this visual and tactile experience?

Alchemy is the theme I’ve chosen for my upcoming show. The transformation of one thing to another. This entire little box (enamel included) started from sheets of copper.

Who wants a tag when I offer this piece?

This little goddess is willing to let her soul shine fully. The colors are specifically soft, the moons surround her like a hug. Pure Bliss.

I will be offering this piece in Stephanie’s holiday show on Facebook in November. Let me know if you want a tag.

I’m calling this one the altered heart. I think the name and the visual pretty much say it all.

Parts of the heart are broken cracked. There’s a space for someone who left for whatever reason. But those shards aren’t necessarily gone, they just may be in a different place. Hint hint, look at the back.
