etherea Accessories with a Twist! etherea is the brainchild of Amanda Hofman-Frethem. My goal is to blend the beauty of days gone by with function and design of today.

The name is a created noun-ification of ethereal, to signify the magic that is all around us, just waiting to be believed. As a woman of the past, born in modern times, this is something I take to heart!

Whoa! Need inspiration? Here's loads!

The often controversial yet eye-catching segment of the Miss Universe pagaent took place last night, with contestants adorning costumes that represent their countries. Some looked to heritage and culture, whereas others took a more offfbeat route. More photos: http://senat.us/1QzjqrV

Also, my mother would be pleased to know that I used a pattern from her collection, purchased sometime before I was even born, to make the skirt for my costume.

If there comes a time in the future when I think working with poly fabric, pre-pleated with mushroom pleats, is a good idea please smack me upside the head. At least the cotton lining fabric is making it suck a little less, and making my machine want to sew it a little more.

My first official commission has been completed and is at a party with its new owner!
It's extra nerve-wracking to do a project for someone else, when I already want everything to be perfect.
I think it was mostly successful, and I learned lots, plus I have a new piece for my portfolio! Thanks to Alison for letting me do this with and for her!

Apparently it's been a while since I drafted a sleeve. Sorted it out, now I just have to match some plaid. Resisting curling up with the soft flannel instead...

Success! You would never know the fabric wasn't red to begin with! iDye is the best!

Working on the commission I took on. It's times like these when I wish I could somehow have every fabric I pictured in my head made in just the weight and fiber content I desire. In this case I am settling for the right fiber and pattern and dying it.

It looks like I'm taking on my first commission! EEK! It's simultaneously exciting and terrifying!
