What IS rhodium plating? And memo to Jami. Nail polish is for nails not jewelry. Right?

If your ring is white gold or has white gold in it, after it is polished it must be rhodium plated. There is no such thing as "white" gold but gold with alloys that make it appear white. When you polish white gold the yellow of the gold is more visible so you coat the white gold with rhodium plating to give it the white color we love.

My ring is rose gold and white gold. I don't want the rose gold to be plated so before dipping it in the rhodium solution I covered the rose gold part with nail polish protecting the rose gold from turning white. After it is dipped in the solution simply use nail polish remove to remove it and presto you have a shiny two toned ring.

Happy New Year! This is Jami, and it is coming up on 4 months after our wedding which means I need to bring my ring in for a check up.

Remember to have your jewelry checked every 3 - 4 months. Duane will make your jewelry sparkle and check everything over to make sure those jewels are secure. Cleaning out the dirt and grime also keeps the metal from breaking down quickly.
