🚴‍♂️⚠️ E-Bike Safety Reminder ⚠️🚴‍♀️

The City of Saint Marys Police Department would like to remind everyone to operate e-bikes and bicycles safely and responsibly while enjoying our community this summer. E-bikes can be a great way to travel and recreate, but riders must follow Pennsylvania laws and local ordinances.

Please remember:
🔹 Ride responsibly and obey all traffic laws AT ALL TIMES
🔹 Be alert for pedestrians and vehicles
🔹 Use lights when riding after sunset or before sunrise
🔹 Riders under 16 are not permitted to operate an e-bike on roadways in Pennsylvania
🔹 City code prohibits riding bicycles and e-bikes on sidewalks in commercially zoned areas

Under Pennsylvania law, e-bikes are considered “pedalcycles with electric assist” and may be operated on roadways and bike lanes, but not on sidewalks in business districts.
