💰 CHECK YOUR 1939 NICKELS — YOU MIGHT BE SITTING ON $700+!

Did you know a simple production mistake made over 85 years ago could be hiding in your old coin jar right now?

We’re talking about the 1939 Jefferson Nickel “Doubled Monticello” error — one of the most exciting finds in American coin collecting. During production, a hub alignment slip caused the word “MONTICELLO” and “FIVE CENTS” on the back to be stamped twice, leaving thick, overlapping lettering you can spot with a basic magnifier.

These aren’t shiny collector’s pieces — the ones worth money are the beat-up, well-traveled, pocket-worn coins from old change drawers. And they can fetch $700 or more at auction!

Here’s how to check yours:
🔍 Flip your 1939 nickel to the reverse side
🏛️ Look closely at the word “MONTICELLO” under the building
✅ Normal = clean, single letters
🚨 Rare = thick, doubled, overlapping lines

Valuable 1976 Quarter or Common Pocket Change? Here’s How to Tell

Before you spend that famous dual dated 1776–1976 Drummer Boy quarter, take a closer look. Most Bicentennial quarters are only worth face value because billions were made to celebrate America’s 200th birthday, but a few special versions can be worth much more to collectors.

Check the edge first.
Most Bicentennial quarters are copper nickel clad, which means you’ll usually see a copper stripe along the edge. But some San Francisco Mint collector editions were struck in 40% silver. If your quarter has an “S” mint mark and the edge looks solid silver gray with no copper stripe, it may carry a premium.

Look for the 1976 D Doubled Die Obverse.
If your quarter has a “D” mint mark, grab a magnifier and inspect the front of the coin. Look closely at LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The famous FS 101 error can show strong, clear doubling, especially around the letters in LIBERTY. Certified examples of this error can be highly desirable to collectors.

Watch for major minting errors.
Off center strikes, clipped planchets, missing design areas, or other dramatic mistakes can make a coin much more interesting and collectible.

So before you toss that Drummer Boy quarter back into the change jar, give it a proper look. That little piece of pocket change might have a story hiding in plain sight.

1914-D Lincoln Penny
How to Authenticate This Key Date Rarity

The historic 1914-D Lincoln Cent is one of the most sought-after key date coins in American pocket change.

Why is it so special? The Denver Mint struck only 1,193,000 pennies that year, making genuine examples incredibly hard to find.

If professionally authenticated, a genuine 1914-D Lincoln Cent can carry impressive value, from $150+ in heavily worn condition to $3,000+ in pristine uncirculated condition, according to PCGS.

Think you may have a hidden treasure in your drawer, jar, safe, or old coin collection?

Could a 1936 Lincoln Wheat Penny Be Hiding in Your Change Jar?

That little old penny tucked away in a drawer might be more interesting than you think. The 1936 Lincoln Wheat Penny comes from the Great Depression era, and collectors still love finding beautiful examples with strong details, clean surfaces, and that gorgeous original red color.

While most 1936 Wheat Pennies are common, rare high-grade certified examples have brought $5,000+ at auction, according to PCGS records.

So before you toss that old change aside, take a closer look. Your penny pile might be holding a little piece of history.

The 1937-D 3-Legged Buffalo Nickel is one of the most famous error coins in U.S. coin collecting history. A polishing mistake at the Denver Mint accidentally removed part of the buffalo’s front leg, creating the now-iconic “3-legged” appearance collectors still hunt for today.

And that is why this coin is such a superstar. The missing leg is easy to recognize, the story is unforgettable, and the collector demand is still roaring.

Authenticated examples certified by trusted grading services like PCGS can attract serious attention, especially coins with clear date details, strong surfaces, and that unmistakable missing-leg look.

High-grade examples have sold for thousands of dollars at major auctions, making the 1937-D 3-Legged Buffalo Nickel one of the most exciting Buffalo Nickel varieties ever produced.

Could one be hiding in your old coin jar, drawer, safe, or inherited collection?

Before you overlook that old nickel, let someone take a closer look.
