JEWELRY INSPIRED BY GRACE
My Story

In the spring of 2014, I had a personal epiphany that the "pearl" was a metaphor for my life. To me, the pearl represented the immeasurable beauty born from grace. It was the joy of a healed heart filled with new hope. It was the strength of a renewed body, given a clean bill of health. The pearl: a symbol of victory and a gentle reminder to hold on. It said: in

all things, at all times ~ be faithful. Then, it was my great-grandmother’s heirloom pearls (that I keep safely locked away) that inspired me to create a new line of pearl jewelry for everyday inspiration. Drawing from my engineering background & my entrepreneurial spirit, I opened my shop on Etsy on Mother’s Day of 2014. Since then, the response has been overwhelming. Through online sales and by word of mouth, MILK VELVET PEARLS has now shipped to customers across the country and around the world. I have been featured in The Scout Guide, British Glamour Magazine, Know Women, Trouve Magazine, and Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine. Milk Velvet Pearls has been styled by influencers and bloggers from Cologne, Germany, New York City and Los Angeles, CA. All of my designs are meticulously handcrafted for comfort and created to compliment each other. Their natural characteristics look good on all skin tones. Each piece lovely on its own, and lovelier as part of a collection, layered year after year. Sarah Faulkner

Sometimes God changes a life through another person.

Twenty eight years ago, a woman befriended me and led me to Christ. Her kindness and faithfulness changed the course of my life. (Thank you Janis!)

Since then, my own faith has continued to grow and radiate outward, touching my husband, my children, and other people God has placed in my path.

I think God designed us this way.

We need each other.

One person’s courage, testimony, kindness, or faith can become part of someone else’s miracle.

Genesis 50:20 reminds us that God can take what the enemy meant for harm and use it for good, sometimes in ways that ripple far beyond our life.

You may never fully know what God will do through your faithfulness. Keep shining. 🤍

I think the hardest part about faith is not knowing what is going to happen.

But Jesus reminds us that understanding often comes later.

“What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” John 13:7

You may not be able to make sense of this chapter yet. Keep trusting. Keep walking. God can see what you cannot see.

I have been struggling with back pain for days. And, yesterday, I was so sick I could barely get out of bed.

Today, as the rain poured down, I remembered this beautiful promise:

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

We do not have to wait until we feel better, or stronger. We can come to God hurting, weary, and exactly as we are. He will meet us there. 🤍

All beautiful things take time. Pearls do. Healing does. Relationships do. Becoming the person God is calling you to be does.

Jesus said, “By your endurance you will gain your lives.” Luke 21:19 ✨✨

So if something you’ve been praying for or working toward is taking longer than you hoped, don’t confuse slow progress with no progress. Stay the course. Keep trusting God. Keep doing the next faithful thing.

The pearl is formed slowly, too. Beauty is often being created long before we can see it.

What are you believing?

In Matthew 9, two blind men came to Jesus asking to be healed. Jesus asked them one question: “Do you believe I can do this?”

They said yes.

And Jesus answered, “According to your faith let it be done to you.”

The Message says it even more simply: “Become what you believe.”

Our beliefs matter. What we believe about God, ourselves, and what is possible shapes the way we live. ❤

So today, ask yourself: What am I believing? And does it agree with what God says?

Write His Word on your heart. Believe Him. Walk by faith. 🤍

Sometimes the very thing we’re asking God to take away is the thing drawing us closer to Him.

Distress can make us more tender, more aware, and more sensitive to His presence.

“Distress that drives us to God does that. It turns us around.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 MSG

I used to think life was about becoming more, doing more, understanding more.

Now I think the greatest gift is much simpler.

To know God.
To love Him.
To seek Him.
To walk with Him.

And to discover, little by little, that He was what my heart was searching for all along. 🩷

I used to treat myself like a machine.
I worked hard, and played hard and always over-did everything. I alternated between feeling strong, and completely falling apart...

But, after my aneurysm ruptured, I realized how precious my life is to God (I'm alive!) And, I started treating myself differently.

Your life is miraculous too.
You are deeply loved too.
God’s Spirit is present within you.

“Don’t you realize that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 MSG

Write it on your heart. 🤍

I think it was Einstein who said that "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that created them."

But God said it first (and better in my opinion).

“Forget about what's happened. Don't keep going over old history. Be alert. Be present. I am about to do something new!" Isaiah 43:19 MSG

Our brains can learn new thought patterns. That’s neuroplasticity.

So when you catch yourself going back over the old story, gently bring your attention back to this: GOD IS DOING SOMETHING NEW. 💖

Writing my memoir has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever chosen to do.

I’ve written multiple drafts, changed the title, changed the cover, questioned myself, procrastinated, and wrestled with more resistance and doubt than I expected.

It has been slow, humbling, cathartic, and incredibly labor intensive.

But I’m proud of what I’ve learned. And I’m proud of who I’m becoming through the process.

And if you want to write a book, this is what I want to tell you:

Don’t try to do it alone.

I progressed so slowly when I was trying to figure everything out by myself. Since meeting Cristina Simmons and joining her Soul Story Collective Cristina P Simmons, I’ve moved forward in ways I have been struggling to do for years.

There is something powerful about being surrounded by women who understand the work, believe in what you’re creating, and remind you to keep going when doubt gets loud.

That kind of support is priceless. 🤍

I wish I had found Cristina years ago.
(I’d be done already if I had! 🤣)

Thank you for your encouragement, Cristina. And it was so good to see you ladies at wildpoppytampa today. 💗
