Pamela Conti Glass

Pamela Conti Glass Thank you for visiting my page! I sell handmade glass jewelry, often with 24-kt gold or white gold, and have been in the glassware business over 20 years!

I was a designer for Disney's fine art glass. I designed and made glass picture frames and glass ornaments for Mikasa, which were sold to all major stores in the US and in 60 countries. I made glass souvenirs for the Olympics and my glass pieces of art were on the cover of many product magazines. By designing for other companies and organizations.I have never run out of ideas, and now in 2017 I am starting a glass jewelry business.

This picture shows several of my old designs from 1990. The blue/azure crackled glass is what we called "Iceware" and we made it using broken, tempered plate glass.

Beside the platter there is a bowl, some candlesticks, a few boxes and a picture frame.

The colored hearts (if you can't tell, that's what they are, hearts and little winged cupids) are cast glass. There are also some platters made with white glass and 18 karat gold, not unlike how ceramics are made.

Unfortunately, I can no longer work with large pieces like these, especially with the Iceware and the cast glass. The mold material is too heavy (and it makes a mess)

Message me on Etsy (Pamela Conti Glass) for custom orders like this one! I made these as a special request for a very happy customer—she told me she wanted earrings to wear to her band performances and sent me the band logo so I could match the colors.

Earrings for your sweet tooth!🍭 I call them Sweet and Sour because they remind me of candy. The top has little stripes of confetti that are melted into the glass which are strings of molten glass and the bottom has little bubbles of colored glass. These earrings are available at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and here on Etsy: http://tinyurl.com/SweetAndSourEarrings

Sweet and Sour Earrings are back! These are very playful earrings that will be sure to add some fun to your wardrobe. I blend different colors together in the two shapes that give it a melted candy look. They are very light weight. Buy now on Etsy: http://tinyurl.com/SweetAndSourEarrings

More crackle glass! I made the candlesticks on the left by attaching each individual piece of crackle glass (glass I “rescued” from window manufacturers and broke into pieces) to the outside. On the right are my candlesticks with etched (sandblasted) pipe organ characters of Snow White for the Disney Collection.

These are part of a Limited Edition grouping of Rainbow Dichroic glass pieces arranged on hoop glass earrings, giving off multicolored splinters of light. With each pair, the grooved pieces are arranged in opposite ways across the hoops. These are a lot of work to make, first making the glass hoops with one type of glass, then laying the rainbow dichroic on another layer with a different kind of glass.

The effect is a very pretty hoop with the multicolored pieces reflecting their rainbow colors as the light hits them, especially when they move.

Multiple sizes available, $20-26: http://tinyurl.com/MosaicHoops

I made and sold collections of my glass art to Macy’s many years ago.

Glass makers would blow bubbles of glass until they broke into pieces—I would buy these shards of colorful glass by the jar and played around with them, noticing that they looked like flower petals. I used this technique to make plates and picture frames.

A beautiful cascade of colored Dichroic wavy squares and Dichroic bits—this piece took days to make and is one of a kind.

The collar is made up of all clear glass with colored Dichroic bits, and the waterfall pieces are made of colored dichroic in hues of green, pink, and blue (which is easier to see on the black bust).

This took three separate kiln firings with a very minimal temperature change in order to get the shape of the waves, yet not over melt the Dichroic bit texture. This necklace is made to order: http://tinyurl.com/waterfalljewelry

Circa 1990: glass jewelry wasn’t really a thing yet—stores wouldn’t carry it because they were afraid their customers would break it! Galleries were the early adopters, so I sold to them. Now glass jewelry is everywhere—Etsy has 14,000 glass jewelry listings. The pieces in these photos were made from neon glass.

I didn’t start out as a jeweler—I spent 15 years as a glass artist first. Sometimes my big orders would come from large companies who found me at farmers markets. This photo reminds me of the time a Crate and Barrel rep stopped by my booth and ordered 6,000 dichroic frit plates!

Circa 2000, Bay Area farmers market

I would spend my week in the garage making glass plates, bowls, picture frames, and candlesticks, then would sell out my creations on the weekend. Then back into the garage I’d go to make more! I loved interacting with the customers at farmers markets—they were super supportive and gave me essential feedback.
