Psalms 119:81 NLT
I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.
David says it plain as can be and often echoes our feelings. He's tired of waiting for God to rescue him and yet He has hope because he understands the truth of God's word. In the midst of difficult circumstances we pray. We're desperate, and hurting and we run to our God, our fortress, deliverer and comforter. But what if we don't see him acting on our behalf? What if we've been praying for years and it seems like an eternity of hearing nothing and seeing nothing happen from the God we depended on to help us? David doesn't lose hope and neither should we. His hope is in the never changing, enduring, truth of God's word. Heaven and earth will pass away but not God's word. The grass withers and flowers fade not not the word of God. What do we do while we're waiting? It's a difficult place for sure. 2 Chronicles 15:7 tells us, "But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.” Psalm 27:14 "Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!". Don't stop doing what you're doing just because you don't see the results you want when you want them. Trust that God’s timing is perfect, His promises are true, and His Word will never fail!
