Sometimes you have to be willing to completely change direction to see an idea through.
I had put a bunch of time into this sunflower pendant, only to completely destroy it. But instead of throwing it in the scrap pile and moving on, I decided to turn the mistake into an opportunity to try something I’d wanted to do for a long time.
That redirected me to try out sculpting, and in the process I now have a whole new skill set to use in my jewelry processes that I get to incorporate and keep working at.
What started as a ruined pendant turned into one of the most unique pieces of art I’ve ever made.
Don’t give up on an idea just because it doesn’t work the first time. Sometimes the best work comes from taking a completely different path.
