STERLING SILVER TURQUOISE PENDANT

This Turquoise cabochon is set in an attractive sterling silver bezel. The turquoise came from our old stock (from Marla's mother).

To make sure it was real turquoise we did some testing. It was 5.5 mohs in hardness, which is correct for turquoise. Acetone does not remove any color so its not dyed. A hot pin did not melt the stone, so its not a plastic.

The front of the stone is a beautiful solid blue with very fine black veins. More matrix is visible on the unpolished back of the stone.

We showed this stone to the "resident turquoise lover" at the Yucaipa Valley Gem and Mineral Society. After explaining the tests and where we got the stone (Margaret's stash), she believes this may be Royston Turquoise.

TRI-COLOR FLUORITE CRYSTAL - 17.3 OZ.

This Tri-Color Fluorite Crystal weighs 17.3 ounces (1.08 pounds) and is approximately 3" x 3" x 3.5" in size. Colors range from blue to a deep purple.

Unfortunately, we have no idea where it originated, but most of our inventory was collected in the Western USA.

STERLING SILVER INTARSIA EARRINGS, JASPER & LAPIS

The intarsia is made from Picture Stone Jasper and Lapis Lazuli. The stones are wrapped to lever-back earrings with ten white faceted cubic zirconia stones in each.

Stone, or lapidary intarsia is the technique of combining different pieces of stone into patterns, often combining them with metals.

We have been playing around with intarsia a lot lately and have quite a few pieces available on our site!

Marla used Argentium Silver to Wire Wrap this gorgeous Rhodonite Pendant.

Argentium is 93.5% silver so technically qualifies as Sterling, but is more tarnish resistant than Sterling Silver.

This is rare Crafton Hills Rhodonite. The mine in Crafton Hills near Mentone, California was sealed by the government to prevent accidents. A member of Yucaipa Valley Gem and Mineral Society told us that the city of Redlands filled the mine with expanding foam because inside there was a deep vertical shaft that people fell into. The material is no longer available for collection, so whatever is in collector's possession is all there will ever be from this location. Very few people know where the mine was located anymore. Fortunately, Marla's mother had a pretty good cache of material which consists of black and pink stone.
