Here's an unusual story: This summer, I got a call from a woman in Chicago (Karen Bach), who told me she had taken my business card when she saw me exhibiting at a Chicago area art fair in 1996.
She wanted to know if I could re-create one of the rings shown on the card.

After several phone conversations, she decided to go ahead with the commission. I first had to locate an emerald matching the size and shape she wanted. I located it at one of my primary gem suppliers, Gemco International in Minneapolis, MN metro.

Ultimately, I recently completed the ring, which is made of 14K yellow gold, set with a triangle-cut natural, fine green emerald and 16 round pave'-set natural diamonds.

I was pleased and impressed that someone would keep my business card that long! It was really a trip back in time to do a design I was making 30 years ago!!

I was pleased to be commissioned for a 5th (!) ring for a client near Madison, WI. It features a 1.7 ct royal blue Ceylon sapphire, cushion-cut, and 4 round blue sapphires, plus two Asscher-cut diamonds. (first Asscher-cut diamonds I've set). The white-gold mounting is hand-engraved.

I recently completed this pendant featuring an 18mm octagon-cut, faceted lapis lazuli stone, approx. 20 ct, in 24k yellow gold bezel. The 14k yellow gold bail is accented with 4 2mm blue sapphires.

A recent creation - this pendant features a parti-colored (yellow/blue) sapphire, set in 14k yellow gold with natural diamond accents. The stone was faceted by world renowned master gemstone cutter, John Dyer.

These rings were commissioned as birthstone rings by clients in Wisconsin. They're engraved and cast in white gold with one featuring natural ruby and tourmaline, and the other aquamarine-colored diamonds.

We haven’t done an art fair in nearly 20 years, but we enjoyed exhibiting and talking potential jewelry and stained glass commissions at an arts & crafts fair in our neighborhood today.

In honor of my good friends and fellow Vietnam veterans, I'm posting this photo from 10 years ago. We went to the Operation Dustoff: Vietnam Remembered event at the state capitol in Madison. (I was interviewed briefly by WPR at the event. )

This was MY birthday present to my wife, Ellen. It took me 4 months of working in very short spurts due to my extensive shoulder surgery recovery. It meant a lot to me to be able to do the work again, so I gifted it to her on my birthday, (celebrating with Ian and Ashley in WI).

This 18kt hand engraved yellow gold pendant features a rectangle bar-cut watermelon tourmaline 8.5ct. with 9 round diamonds; overall dimensions 44mm x 14mm.
