Today's post will focus on paintings and early paint. It will show some of the art work that dealers are bringing to the Maine Antiques Exposition this weekend - Saturday from 10 to 5 and Sunday from 11 to 4 - at THE PORTLAND Exposition Building on Park Ave. Art and antiques go well together and many of the antique dealers bring fine art and paintings to the show to offer to their customers. Add these to your home plus some nice antiques in early paint and you will have a decor that will be the envy of your friends and neighbors. Here are a few of what will be there. First a 19th c. landscape, a Domingo Barreres MCM painting of Fenway, a China trade painting of a British Blackwall Frigate Indiaman flying the Red Ensign, The clipper "Ocean Express" approaching San Francisco Bay, by Joseph Smith, a WILLIAM ZORACH (American 1887-1966) Landscape from 1914 - watercolor on paper, a Robert Eric Moore watercolor, a Lee Boynton (Maine) watercolor, a Consuelo Joerns of Wiscasset Maine Martha’s Vineyard framed map, and a portrait of a Portland man, painted by Joseph Greenleaf Cole in Portland in 1826. Now let's add a few accessories in early paint. First a couple of candle boxes, one dated 1866, and a nice dough box in early red. There is going to be lots of both for sale at the antiques show. We hope to see you there this Saturday and Sunday.

We have out all day distributing cards and posters for the Maine Antiques Exposition in the greater Portland and Falmouth. In our travels, we have met many customers who are excited about the show and are planning on attending. Here are a few more pictures of antiques that the exhibitors are bringing to the Expo next weekend. Let's start with a wonderful cupboard with two small drawers over a single door. The top is much like a server. Next we have a feather weathervane on stand, followed by an early 20th century patinated bronze clock. Next is a portrait of a Portland man, painted by Joseph Greenleaf Cole in Portland in 1826, a Dentist sign with pointing hand, an unusual desk set made from an armadillo, a collection of art pottery, and a collection of jewelry including a 14k bypass ring with a diamond & a ruby, a large amy in a 3 color mounting 3 pair of earrings-lapis,carnelian & crystal & citrine briollettes..all 14k & a pendant with blue & white enamel, pearls & a diamond. More pictures coming later this week. This is going to be a great antiques show. Check back regularly and plan on coming to the Maine Antiques Exposition next Saturday and Sunday at THE PORTLAND Expo Building.
