Aide-mémoire Jewelry

Aide-mémoire Jewelry Aide-mémoire Jewelry is bespoke gold and platinum wedding bands and engagement rings, using recycled

Custom-made eco-friendly wedding jewelry created by Aran Galligan in Seattle, Washington. The term aide-mémoire is often used to refer to notes, or memorandum, that are taken in order to jog one’s memory later. Every piece of jewelry or even a fragment of broken jewelry acts a reminder for moments in your life. As the founder and sole creator of Aide-mémoire Jewelry, Aran is inspired both by princ

ipals of modern design – functionality, truth to materials, and beauty through simplicity – as well as an aesthetic value of the Japanese, called Wabi-sabi, where beauty often lies in the imperfect mark of the hand. This aesthetic celebrates the beauty in the slight imperfections of nature. It accepts the process of growth and decay, valuing modesty, simplicity, humbleness and integrity of purpose. These principles are integral to Aide- mémoire Jewelry’s unique handmade creations and set them apart from mass-produced rings. Each ring is custom made to order, and Aran’s techniques merge tradition and the latest technology – utilizing time honored metalworking skills as well as computer-aided design. Aide-mémoire Jewelry uses 100% recycled precious metals -- recycled and lab-grown diamonds and ethical fair-trade gemstones in a low-impact studio environment. All packing materials are reused and reusable, recyclable and compostable, with a minimal use of plastic.
