Next on the bench: I received this Locust swiss seven jewel pocket watch in for repair. I'm only barely in on the fault finding process and there are a number of issues. As always with these seven jewel movements, the pivot holes are out of round and need to be addressed, new mainspring is needed, guard pin is bent to the right, the leafs on the third wheel are worn and the lost goes on. The timegrapher reading I use for an initial test is showing a low amplitude and beat error is not good in the dial down position, the rest of the readings are just as bad. I am going to check the final results with my more professional timing machine once I have done all the work I need to do.

Customers Watch #1: started working on this ladies vintage Bulova watch. It wasn't running when it came in. I put the whole movement minus the dial into the precleaner so I could get a good idea of what is going on without the old oil and dirt getting in my way. I moved the pallet arbor to see if it would snap to the banking pins and it did. So I put the balance back on and it started. The timegraph reading is just the dial down position, would of taken a picture of the other positions but I forgot too and they are not much better than dial down. So far I have corrected the hairspring in the flat and see a number of problems that need to be corrected.

Had a customer who I repaired a clock of theirs reach out to me to repair her Waterbury 8-day steeple clock. This clock was in rough shape as it hasn't been serviced since 1988. Among the list of things to be repaired, the wood shelf that holds the movement level in the case was broken and causing one of the gears to grind a channel into the side of the case (see second picture). The first picture is after I repaired the shelf. To make a long story short the customer didn't want to sink the money into the repair. So back to her it will go and will continue to tell bad time and will eventually stop which is all the warnings I told her.

Had an omega chronograph come it with a broken tab on the clasp. Was not able to find a replacement clasp but who needs to as making parts is the best thing about being a watchmaker. I used my orion welder to weld a new piece of stainless steel that I made onto the clasp. I love working with stainless with my welder because of how smooth it is.

I didn't expect this this year but thank you to all the people who voted for me for . I would have never know about this if it wasn't for the guy who called up to have some banjo clocks repaired and congratulated me. At first I thought maybe he had an old paper from 2019 when I won it.
