I’m Rachael Reed, founder and executive director of Sheltered Hope.
I’m not a polished professional who built this from comfort.
I’m a single mother on disability.
I’ve battled mental illness and poverty my entire life.
I’ve been homeless.
I’ve scraped together change to feed my kids.
I’ve lived the chaos, the fear, the exhaustion.
And I built Sheltered Hope to become the person I needed back then — the person you might need now.
This nonprofit isn’t just a program. It’s a lifeline.
It’s trauma-informed coaching, resource coordination, and emotional support for single mothers who are stuck in survival mode and need a way out.
I’m using AI to make this support scalable — not just to clone my brain, but to teach other women how to use AI to regulate, plan, and rise.
Sheltered Hope is my way of creating my own employment while helping others like me.
But I don’t plan to stop here.
Once this nonprofit is stable, I’ll be launching for-profit ventures too — because poverty doesn’t get to define my future.
If you’re a single mom, a survivor, or someone who’s been dismissed because you didn’t have money — I see you.
You’re not broken. You’re building.
And Sheltered Hope is here to walk with you.
