My youngest child has begun to take up running and so I decided to run with him. I was a strong runner in college, but there are many years and proverbial miles between that woman and the one who now has to source running shoes that're sympatico with the joint geometry of someone who dumps two scoops of beef collagen into her coffee each morning.

As with so many things in life, I went to my best friend, who's a marathon runner. One of her suggestions was a very well-rated pair of sneakers whose foamy visual profile uncannily evokes the Michelin Man, but whose lanky 5'11" website model, in her high pony and athleisure wear and casual smirk, lent absolute confidence that I, too, would look cool with marshmallows on my feet.

It turns out that the line between "hip" and "nursing home shufflewear" is far thinner than I'd hoped. At least they are, as my husband generously remarked that they looked, "comfortable."

Right now I am in said new foot canoes in an airport lobby, waiting to board a flight for an exciting week that I'm hoping to share a little of with you each day. (Incidentally, these are the only shoes I've packed--I am committed to the bit.)

For now I'll share this gorg pendant made with a U.S. turquoise and a nice heft of silver, sturdy and radiant. As noted yesterday, orders can continue through the week, but there'll be a pause in fulfilling them until the 19th. ⭐️

Fire aquamarine & a lovely muted sapphire: reminds me of a calm rainy day. 🌧

This is the last of the doublegem pairs for now, but as these landed well, I'll return to them shortly with new designs. ⭐️

As a heads-up: I will take a pause on fulfilling/shipping orders between 5/9 and 5/18. But keep an eye on this space in between there, I'll probably have some fun things to share! ⭐️

We have a chicken named Susie Derkins who, lately, is going by her full legal name, Susie Freaking Derkins, as in, "Do you know who suddenly likes to perch on my shoulder? Susie Freaking Derkins," or "Guess who learned to fly over the fence and is now standing in the eggplant bed? Susie Freaking Derkins."

Susie appears completely unbothered by any of our consternation; I can't tell if her brand is more Hei Hei from Moana or Bea Arthur.

I bring this up only because I was outside picking peonies, where I saw SFD, before coming in to photograph these earrings with one of said peonies, and now we're here.

Anyway. I had these earring stones chosen long ago and found the design cards shoved in a drawer after my recent studio move. There are three pairs in this candy doublegem style--these are raw ruby and green serpentine. The backs are even pretty (take my word on it)! They're listed now. ⭐️

Mixed metals, man. Such a joy.

This is the last of the Tropic of Silver to share with you. Heads up, earring hunters: a few pairs of saturated, gemmy, candy-like doublestones are coming up next! ⭐️

It's nighttime. I'm idly scrolling on the couch, waiting for my husband to come back from the kitchen and watch a show. I come upon an account whose entire contents are a charming man feeding a seagull various foods from his apartment window.

As my husband rejoins me I muse, "Look at this. 890 thousand humans are watching this man feed a seagull, and I can hardly get five pairs of eyes on my jewelry." My husband shrugs compassionately, and around a mouthful of tortilla chips suggests: "If you fed it to a seagull you would."

I think I need a new campaign manager.

The story behind this one is that it's the last piece I created in my old studio--my capstone, a farewell and a celebration. The watermelon tourmaline is the best I had in my collection, a collector-grade specimen I'd been saving for nearly a decade, set in 14/20 gold. The labradorite below is so deeply flashy and speckled with little inset stars, neither of which come through well in a still photo. I hand-milled the silver and went back to my statement theme of curated order on one side and rugged openness on the other. I cut a peekaboo window behind the tourmaline to allow full illumination of the stone. In short: she's a beautiful, wild masterpiece--one I think is fitting to honor a beautiful, wild tenure of making magic in that old space.

Collectors, she's up on the site. This one's not for the birds. ⭐️

I was about to explain that since gold costs right around four million dollars at the moment, I've been leaning again on the Korean technique of keum bo, where one heats very thin pure gold carefully to molecularly bond it to the silver and add a nice gold pop without much lift.

However, I am deferring that exploration and instead taking the time to log some utter bewilderment: when I did a quick web search to avoid sounding like an ignoramus and double check that I was going to correctly say that the practice was, in fact, Korean, I got blasted with a faceful of search results crowing about keum boo. Not keum bo? No. Keum BOO. WHAT IN THE MANDELA EFFECT IS GOING ON HERE.

I've referred to this art many, many times over my career. I've practiced it for over a decade, said this phrase aloud at shows where I've exhibited the process. It had always been keum bo. Remember Billy Blanks' Tae Bo? I thought of it each time I used gold that way, which makes a little common brain sense because they BOTH ENDED IN BO you see.

Already knew something fishy was up when Berenstein became Berenstain, and I feel like Wolfgang (definitely dating myself) when I say: "verrry interesting." ⭐️
