Hi,
The amount of stuff my 20 month old received as gifts this year is out of this world! Listen, I'm thankful for our loved ones' generosity and I get it--kids need and love toys--but I feel I've been doing nothing but cleaning things up and putting things away. I have spent time working as a nanny. I know how much 'stuff' kids come with, but now IT'S ALL IN MY HOUSE!
I don't mean to be bah humbug, but clutter is tough for me. When I was still single, I went on a minimalist kick (I was hooked on the Minimalists podcast) and gave away jeans, sweaters, furniture--you name it! AND IT FELT SO GOOD!
I'm talking about this for two reasons. 1) I have decided to simply live in "the stuff" for now ( I am really looking forward to getting my son's play kitchen in after all ☺️) 2) I'm lnot letting myself feel too guilty about it all--change is inevitable and I'm aware that if I have downsized before, I can do it again (I did live in a 31-square-foot camper for most of last year, after all.)
I'm so thankful for the book The Artist's Way which has coached me on building self-care habits--like morning pages and artist's dates--that help me stay steady through all the different changes life brings.
If you'd like to be able to treat yourself gently even when you're going through it, and stay open to possibility and creativity no matter what's happening in your life...
Meet me in my 4th The Artist's Way Group which begins January 10th!
Tapping into your creative self--and doing it with a group of supportive people who will be so happy to see your face on the Zoom call each week--can help you get moving forward again, in a direction that's perfect for you.
Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way and creative godmother to millions of people, "Growth is an erratic forward movement: two steps forward, one step back. Remember that and be very gentle with yourself. A creative recovery is a healing process." She also states, "this is normal and growth occurs in spurts." I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!
HERE (link in comments) is where you can sign-up for our weekly guided calls where we work our way through all the practices and goodness contained in The Artist's Way!
This book is lovingly referred to as the artist's Bible by many, and even if you don't feel remotely artistic it helps you foster your own innate creativity and develop your own spirituality (however that word relates to you.) Cameron wrote, " The divine created snowflakes and no two snowflakes are alike--so the divine must love artists!" Creativity is everyone's gift!
If you have a hard time getting a new project started that you have been dreaming of, are craving a supportive community, or even if you think this doesn't relate to you because "you don't have a creative bone in your body"... I PROMISE this group is for you.
Learn more about the book here (in comments).
We will meet Tuesday evenings on Zoom, 6:30 - 8:30 pm ET, from Jan 10th-April 4th. It's a great way to start 2023 and make sure that you pay good attention to yourself and your dreams.
The investment: $355 + cost of book.
(payment plans available)
And I will send everyone who signs up a beautiful artist's journal! 📒
I and your fellow artists look forward to seeing you each week.
xo, Ashley
