Signed M. Wardell studio pottery vase with a bulbous body, short neck, and flared rim. The exterior is a matte, textured mix of moss green, charcoal, and earthy brown, with glossy cobalt blue splash and drip accents at the neck and shoulders. Inside the flared rim, a mottled teal-green and burgundy-red glaze is flecked in an irregular organic pattern, with cobalt blue drips overlapping the rim edge; deeper in the throat the surface turns dark charcoal.

Just a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a one of a kind estate sale that was truly an incredible experience. The home belonged to a passionate art historian, and their love for woodblock prints was evident everywhere. It felt like a treasure hunt, uncovering so many unique pieces with such a rich history. Honestly, navigating the sale felt like I was dealing with an invalid authentication parameter at times, trying to decipher the stories behind each captivating artwork. Each piece was a testament to the owner's discerning eye and deep appreciation for the craft. I left with a newfound respect for woodblock art and a fantastic find! 🎨
