So this just happened! We were contacted by the Gazette this week to let us know there was a misprint in the magazine. We actually placed in 3 categories instead of 2- including Best Jeweler!! So what is a smoked opal? A smoked opal is a natural Ethiopian hydrophane opal that has been treated with smoke to darken its body tone, making its colors appear more vivid. It’s understated, mysterious, and completely unique to each stone.

We set this one in a yellow gold crown pendant, letting the opal take center stage, and added a customer’s diamond for just a hint of extra sparkle.

This ring came to us after the band had bent from regular wear. The design was beautiful, but it didn’t have the structural support needed to hold up over time.

Our solution? Reinforce the design while preserving its look—adding the support it needed so it can be worn and loved every day.
