Meet my whale shark necklace, hand-sculpted from Cosclay with an aluminum foil core, and his little wrasse friend sculpted directly onto the wire so they could swim alongside each other. Then there’s the hand-beaded chain with Miyuki Delicas and crystal accents to bring all those ocean colors together. Every detail was planned to make this feel like a tiny underwater scene you can wear. A little sculpting, a lot of tiny details, some creative problem-solving, and one very determined whale shark. Which ocean creature should I turn into wearable art next?

This little seahorse has a hurricane story 🌊💙

I was working on him during Hurricane Isaias, while evacuated and without power. With so much going on, sitting down to stitch gave me something creative to focus on for a while. Sometimes you just need a little project to keep your mind busy when life gets chaotic!

He’s finally finished, sealed, and ready to find his place in someone’s home. ✨

Some of my favorite beach days are spent collecting tiny coquina shells and watching ghost crabs scurry across the sand. 🌊🐚 This little guy was inspired by those moments, brought to life one tiny detail at a time. And yes, I had to sculpt him twice to get him just right! Sometimes the best part of the creative process is starting over until the vision in your head finally matches what’s in your hands. ✨

✨ Every detail has a purpose. Every element is part of the design. ✨

This little creature started with kiln-fired dichroic glass, but bringing it to life meant so much more than sculpting a bug around a beautiful piece of glass. 🪲

From embedding wire into the legs and antennae, to adding shimmering pigments and Austrian crystals to the sculpted wings, every detail was carefully considered. Then came the custom beaded chain, individually strung with Miyuki Delicas and crystals on FireLine thread, followed by matching hand-beaded earrings to bring the entire color palette together.

The goal wasn’t simply to make a bug pendant. It was to create a cohesive piece of wearable art where the shifting green glass, sculptural details, metallic shimmer, and intricate beadwork all work together.

This is the part of handmade art I love most: taking an unexpected combination of materials and turning it into something entirely my own.

So… this whole thing actually started because I found these amazing bug tights that I wanted. And obviously, I couldn’t just wear regular jewelry with them, so I decided I needed to make my own bugs to match.

I sculpted the bugs from Cosclay for durability and am already planning on creating more bugs like these, each with their own dichroic glass surprise.
