The most stressful part of the whole project - drilling holes for the new hardware. 😬

Acetone for the WIN!!! I've seen a bunch of other flippers use it to take the finish off of furniture and I thought I'd give it a try, oh my god it worked amazing! 8 dresser drawers done in about 30 min!
Here's some tips if you want to try it:
1. Buy the big one - I only bought one quart because I didn't want to get stuck with a bunch of product if it didn't work and one quart only did 8 dresser drawer fronts. More is better with this product.
2. I stripped the drawers in my driveway so I can power wash it but next time I would lay down some thick plastic or cardboard to catch all the gunky residue.
3. Make sure you have thick chemical resistant gloves - this stuff will eat through regular rubber gloves or nitrile gloves.
4. Acetone is extremely flammable and releases a lot of vapors so make sure you're using this outdoors or in a well ventilated area.
5. Drips or residual residue can be cleaned up with soapy water or mineral spirits.

This will make the next step of sanding so much faster and easier. If you need to remove the topcoat or stain on a piece I definitely recommend trying acetone 👍

Here's another great example of the Before - Inspiration - After. This decoupage paper needed a moody paint job and the ombre grey was perfect. This table was a lot of fun to being to life.

Looking back on some of my pieces is fun to see the before, the inspiration, and the after. Other refinishers have done some beautiful work and I never want to plagiarized their pieces so finding ways to make them my own is always the goal. This little table is a great example. I loved how it came together and think the colors worked well together.

I've tried and tried to fix the areas of this veneer that were missing that I had to fill in and nothing is working well so I've resorted to covering them with these pretty cotton transfers. Next steps are topcoat, attach the legs back on, and then list this beauty.

Why do I do this to myself? The easiest way to fix the chipped veneer is to use wood filler, sand, and paint but I wanted to stain the top so I gambled and hoped the wood under the veneer was decent and peeled off TWO layers of veneer. Took me 2 days 🤦‍♀️ Leaving wet towels on it all night to soak helped. Stripped the front legs and top edge and now it's time for repairs.

Holy moly its been a AWHILE since I've done anything. My fall and winter were crazy busy so my furniture flipping took a backseat but now I'm back at. Here's a little preview of what I've been working on the last few days. Need to get this workshop cleaning up and cleared out because I have a customer piece I'm picking up in 2wks and have nowhere to put it!!
