*Featured Piece of the Week - Anniversary Edition*
In honor of our 5th Anniversary today, I thought I'd share a fun project I did for Jen this year. I decided to surprise her with a custom anniversary band.
Back when I originally proposed, I bought Jen a simple solitaire ring with a 1/3ct asscher cut natural diamond. It was pretty reasonable, and exactly what she wanted at the time. When we were preparing to open our store, however, she decided that she wanted to make herself a new custom ring showcasing a larger lab created oval diamond. So, her original engagement ring sat in a box for a while.
We had been talking about someday buying her a 5-stone anniversary band using her original diamond and 4 other lab created diamonds. We found a design that she really liked, but it was only available with round stones. That idea sat on the back burner while we carried on with our lives.
On to the gift... I took the original photos and specs of the ring we were looking at, and sent them to our Casting House so I could have a custom piece made that would incorporate asscher cut diamonds instead of the originally intended round stones. After super secret discussions with our contact at Casting House, we ended up with the exact piece Jen had in mind. She had no idea I was doing this for her!
I presented her with the custom mounting, along with 4 new lab created diamonds. She had to size the piece up a little. (I didn't realize when ordering the custom that rings need to be slightly larger when wearing them together as a set.) She cleaned up from the sizing, and set the 5 stones into the mounting, with the original diamond from her engagement ring in the middle. After cleanup and a final polish, the new ring was all ready to go.
This stunning custom anniversary band turned out to be a perfect compliment to Jen's updated ring! She loves it!
