Hi friends 🧔 Jen here from Brooks Jewelers.
One of my favorite things to do in the shop is ring sizings — especially when it means someone gets to wear a piece they love again. In this video, I’m showing all the little steps that go into resizing this ring and bringing it back to life.
Jewelry is meant to be worn, loved, and passed down. So many treasured pieces end up sitting in a box simply because they don’t fit or need a little repair. That’s why I love what we do here. Whether it’s an upsizing, repair, restoration, or complete overhaul, helping you fall back in love with your jewelry is the best part of the job.
We’re a small-town, full-service jewelry shop with a big heart, and nothing makes us happier than getting your treasures back where they belong — on your hand, around your neck, and part of your everyday story. ✨

Hi friends 🧔 Jen here from Brooks Jewelers. There’s something so special about an overhaul project — taking a platinum and diamond wedding set that’s been loved for years and giving it new life again. From repairs to sizing to bringing back that bright sparkle, I absolutely love restoring these pieces to feel almost brand new while keeping all the memories they hold. āœØšŸ’
Jewelry is meant to be worn, loved, and passed down — and I’m honored to help make that possible every day in our little corner of town.

Hi friends—Jen here šŸ’›
Mother’s Day is coming up, and while we LOVE helping you find the perfect gift… I want to say something a little different this time—
You don’t need a holiday to walk into my store.
You don’t need a reason to celebrate yourself.
At Brooks Jewelers, everything we do is personal. Our opals are hand-carved, each one completely unique, and every custom piece is made with intention—because your story deserves more than something off a shelf.
My husband and I work together—designing, engraving, repairing, and helping bring your ideas to life. Whether it’s something brand new or something meaningful you want restored, we’ve got you.
And yes—we offer layaway, because I believe beautiful things should be within reach.
But more than anything, I want this to be your little nudge—
Take care of yourself.
Celebrate yourself.
Buy the piece.
No occasion needed.
You’re already worth it.

*Featured Piece of the Week - Anniversary Edition*
In honor of our 5th Anniversary today, I thought I'd share a fun project I did for Jen this year. I decided to surprise her with a custom anniversary band.

Back when I originally proposed, I bought Jen a simple solitaire ring with a 1/3ct asscher cut natural diamond. It was pretty reasonable, and exactly what she wanted at the time. When we were preparing to open our store, however, she decided that she wanted to make herself a new custom ring showcasing a larger lab created oval diamond. So, her original engagement ring sat in a box for a while.

We had been talking about someday buying her a 5-stone anniversary band using her original diamond and 4 other lab created diamonds. We found a design that she really liked, but it was only available with round stones. That idea sat on the back burner while we carried on with our lives.

On to the gift... I took the original photos and specs of the ring we were looking at, and sent them to our Casting House so I could have a custom piece made that would incorporate asscher cut diamonds instead of the originally intended round stones. After super secret discussions with our contact at Casting House, we ended up with the exact piece Jen had in mind. She had no idea I was doing this for her!

I presented her with the custom mounting, along with 4 new lab created diamonds. She had to size the piece up a little. (I didn't realize when ordering the custom that rings need to be slightly larger when wearing them together as a set.) She cleaned up from the sizing, and set the 5 stones into the mounting, with the original diamond from her engagement ring in the middle. After cleanup and a final polish, the new ring was all ready to go.

This stunning custom anniversary band turned out to be a perfect compliment to Jen's updated ring! She loves it!

*Featured Piece of the Week*
This week we have a fun little custom piece. Our client brought in a pair of polished peridot rough stones. She wanted a pair of earrings made from them.
I was so into the project that I forgot to take pictures until about halfway through. I started by pulling about 12" of silver wire. Then I cut 6 pieces the same size for the prongs, and made 2 small jump rings for the bottom, and 2 more (in the shape of the stones) to set the stones onto. Once I had my baskets all assembled, I soldered the posts on the back of each earring. I then put the pair into my magnetic tumbler to work harden the metal before setting.
I moved on to set the stones, and give them a high polish and rhodium plating.

Our client now have a beautiful pair of bespoke earrings!

*Featured Piece of the Week*
This week we have an awesome overhaul and a remount for you.
My client wanted to make a mothers ring with a stone she already had in an old pendant.
I began by removing the stone from the pendant and sizing the new mounting up. Then I set her stone, plus the two new stones we ordered for her.
I then moved on the the overhaul job. We ordered a new white sapphire for this. I removed the existing stone and began by cutting off the old shank and measuring gold for the new. I then added the shank to the ring and retipped all the prongs. After cleaning up the ring, I went ahead and set the new stone. Now that everything was just about finished, I gave everything a final polish and rhodium plated the mothers ring.

My client now has two brand new rings to love!

*Featured Piece of the Week*
This week, we have a special project for you! Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a few weeks, and I decided to make my husband a custom bar chain from scratch.
I started with 24" of 2x2mm silver stock. I pulled it into thick wire, and cut it into 36 1" pieces. I also pulled out 24" of 1mm wire for the jump rings. Once I had all my pieces cut, I melted each end creating a barbell. I then hammered all of the balled ends flat, and drilled a hole in each end. Then, I cleaned up each end to streamline the links. I created 37 jump rings and started assembly. Once the piece was all put together, I went back and soldered each of the jump rings shut. Now that everything was soldered, I ovaled out all of the jump rings, giving me a total length of 23.5." Next I began the painstaking polishing process. After the final polish, I gave it a rhodium plating and surprised my husband with it.

He absolutely loves it!
