With heartfelt remembrance, the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® – Beta Sigma Omega Chapter honor the life, legacy, and service of our dear sister, Thomasena Martin-Johnson, who became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on January 1, 2026.

Thomasena was full of life, sharing her gifts, wisdom, and creativity in ways that inspired and uplifted all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue to live on.

Today, as her family and loved ones gather to celebrate her life, we stand in unity, lifting them in prayer and surrounding them with love. May they find comfort in cherished memories and peace in knowing her life made a lasting impact.

On January 29, 1913, under the fearless leadership of Nellie M. Quander, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was officially incorporated, ensuring protection, permanence, and purpose for generations to come.

Today, the women of Beta Sigma Omega Chapter honor Sister Nellie Quander’s foresight by continuing to serve with intention and uphold the principles that sustain our sisterhood.

113 years later, we remain rooted in Principle, Preservation, and Perpetuity.
