Do you ever struggle with climate anxiety? I sure do. Recently it’s been really bad with news about droughts and data centers topping my list of worries.

So I thought I’d share 3 things that help when I’m feeling overwhelmed by climate anxiety —or really any kind of anxiety.

1. I go outside to be among the flowers. For me it’s always flowers. What is it for you? The mountains? The forest? The water? Whatever it is, go there whenever you can.

2. I gather my friends and family at parties designed to bring joy, whimsy, and connection. Gatherings like this help us all feel reenergized for our daily lives as we work to make this world a better place.

3. I lean on my wedding vendor friends in Emerald Hour is a sustainable wedding organization I co-founded a few years ago. It’s a community of wedding vendors who are passionate about the environment and making weddings and events more sustainable. Over the years I’ve learned so much from the friends I’ve made and the workshops we’ve hosted. I’ve gained confidence in how to align my business with my values and express them to my clients. Most of all I’ve felt inspired by being in a community of like minded people who are working together to make our industry better.

If this sounds good to you, we’d love to have you join our community! Check out to learn more. 🌲

Being a mom to these amazing humans is one of the best, most joyful adventures of my life. From the magic of childhood to traveling with them as young adults, exploring in the mountains or relaxing at the beach. From coast to coast the fun never ends. It just gets better and better. They delight me no end.

I am the luckiest.

Don’t get me wrong, details on tablescapes are my JAM! But I promise to never lose sight of the bigger picture: helping you create an unforgettable experience with the people you love.

Color palettes, flowers, perfectly mismatched dishes, and all the rest are just there to serve a greater purpose. The whole point is to create ambience, spark joy and bring you a celebration filled with love and connection like the one you see here. (There were more tears AND laughs that day than any wedding I can remember!)

If this sounds good to you, just comment the word YES and I’ll send you a brochure to show you more about how I can help you celebrate.

Cheers!

Some moments we only ever get to dream about.

Some come true. Like the unforgettable blossom tree tea party we had with our dear friends a couple of years ago.

Rarely do we get to REPEAT a dream come true, though, right?

I feel so lucky to have done just that with our friends under their Tea Tree when it bloomed recently.

After years of dreaming about a tea party like this, we actually pulled it off two years ago.

Then, this spring, we noticed their tree was about to bloom, the weather looked good and we hadn’t seen them in ages.

So we reached out, scheduled the time, packed up all the tea things (including a table and chairs) made the scones, drove to their house, set it all up,and spent a lovely couple of hours reminiscing and reconnecting.

These are people that used to host us and our children for fancy holiday tea parties, electric train extravaganzas, summer dinners on the terrace in their magical Monet style garden, and the most epic Halloween experiences you can imagine.

They encouraged my daughter’s artistic nature by purchasing her hand painted greeting cards and even commissioned her to paint a giant scenic backdrop for their Christmas train setup.

Now they’re older and not necessarily up for hosting. But we still love them dearly, stand in awe of their beautiful garden, and enjoy their company. They still want to have tea with us, share garden tips, and hear all about our grown up kids and everything they’re doing.

So we repeated the tea party under their gorgeous blossom tree and made some new memories together. How lucky are we?

If you can, take the time to reach out to friends old or new. Let them know you’d like to spend some time together and see if you can make it happen. You won’t regret it.

Forget about the expectations, the decisions, the vendors, and even your budget for a moment.
Ask yourself, how do you want your wedding day to FEEL?

If your answer includes things like:
intimate
calm
aligned
unhurried
and unforgettable
then maybe an elopement is the right choice for you and your love.

Eloping can allow you to create an experience that feeds your soul and grounds your commitment in a peaceful day centered on the two of you instead of pleasing a crowd. Cuz even if that crowd is filled with people you love, it’s still a crowd filled with expectations and opinions about what a wedding “should” and “shouldn’t” include.

When you elope, you can still celebrate with some of your favorite people if you wish but it can have a whole different vibe when it’s just your inner circle of love and trust.

If this sounds like the wedding day of your dreams, find yourself an elopement photographer like who can guide you with expertise about timing, vendors, and locations and I’ll set the table for you and your loved ones back at the VRBO for a heartfelt celebration touched by the golden light of your unforgettable day.

To get my 5 top tips for planning an elopement, comment ELOPE and I’ll send you the free guide I wrote for couples just like you!

Someone asked me the other day “What does it even mean to have a sustainable wedding?”

“Good question!” I said.

For me, sustainable weddings are all about designing with thoughtful intentions that align with your values and making choices that allow you to create an event that’s meaningful, beautiful, AND eco-friendly.

In my case, that means:

🤍 using table linens that are made of cotton or linen, not polyester (aka plastic!)

🍽️ thrifting vintage dishes, glassware and other decor with care and then renting and reusing them for years.

💦 providing glass water carafes for free, encouraging people to avoid plastic water bottles at their parties.

💐 offering lush, local florals (mostly grown in my own cottage garden!) instead of flowers grown and flown across the globe.

The Sustainable Wedding Show will feature dozens of brilliant wedding pros who all have their own take on what it means. Come to the show and find out for yourself what’s possible!
