I love the study of the cross cultural perspective of each one. My fascination of the complexities and their significance to history, politics, contemporary culture and the art and music inspired by them inspires my jewelry design. If we grew up together, if you were a student of mine at Hickory Hills, if you worked with me at Ample Industries or if we traveled to China together to adopt our daughters then you knew my Granny. She was a wonderful part of everything I loved. Martha Marie Menzies, for whom my daughter, Martha Grace is named, passed on Saturday, one month short of 103.
The picture I shared is a photo we took after a music recital of the students of Gina Edwards, who taught me and MG harp, guitar and piano. After leaving Stone Chapel that day she wanted to see Lindberg’s Tavern. She had known it as a child in the 30s. It’s my favorite photo of my granny and me.
She will be buried beside my grandpa at Glenn Cemetery on the banks of the Finley River on Thursday, October 30th.
