New batch of Art Deco Inspired Handmade Jewelry, Handmade in that the metal is shaped by hand and then hand bladed out. Just look at the gallery of these rings, beautiful filigree. Then the top and bottom and the shank are soldered together, so most of these rings are three pieces.
The accent gemstones are usually French cut and calibre set.
Calibre (Calibré) Setting
- Calibre refers more to the cut of the gemstones than the mechanical way they are held. In this style, gemstones (typically small, colored stones like rubies, sapphires, or emeralds) are custom-cut to fit perfect in a mounting.
- Stones are cut with precise, often unusual shapes (like trapezoids or triangles) so they can be lined up side-by-side without any gaps or visible metal between them. They are usually secured using a channel setting or a grain setting.
- The Look: It creates a seamless “ribbon” or mosaic effect of color.
This was a hallmark of the Art Deco era, used to create geometric patterns and bold contrasts and why it’s some of my best selling items.
