The Blueberry Pancake Ring 🥞 included in La Grande Fête exhibition flows in undulating 14ct rose gold, with hand-detailed rivers radiating from a mirror-polished center piece of 18ct yellow gold, like butter melting across its surface. Polished valleys are set with rich Ceylon blue sapphires and white diamonds, evoking a miniature landscape of light, color, and texture. Each ultra-fine detail is shaped under a microscope to create a delicately textured surface that catches the light.

Created in response to Daniel Emma’s "Pancake with Butter" jewelry box, this ring forms part of an exhibition celebrating contemporary jewelry and playful object design.

💍 New ring created for La Grande Fête exhibition as part of Melbourne Design Week 2026.

A stunning 1.75ct parti sapphire moves from deep blue to golden yellow, set in 18ct yellow gold and surrounded by a hand-textured landscape inlaid with brilliant-cut white diamonds. The natural color zoning gives the sapphire a beautiful sense of depth, with blue, green, and golden hues visible from different angles. ✨

As we get closer to sharing new research on neuroimmune interactions and the beautiful, complex microenvironment of the skin, I’m excited to introduce my group’s website: quantitative-imaging.org (link in bio).

Our team is based in the Department of Neurology at , where we combine quantitative analysis with advanced microscopy to understand complex tissues, including the skin and the central nervous system.

The image shared here comes from a collaboration with my long-term collaborator and wife, Grace Shin. Clearing skin tissue and imaging it at high resolution to reveal this hidden world has been challenging, but incredibly rewarding.

I’m looking forward to sharing more as this work unfolds - both the science and the jewelry it continues to inspire. 💍
