THE HANDS BEHIND THE WORK

Sabrina and Carolyn are not simply wearing the jewelry.
They are goldsmiths.

I trained them both in my atelier and they are part of the lineage of makers who bring these pieces from an idea, to metal, to something that can be worn and treasured.

For me, this is one of the most meaningful parts of “Off the Canvas”: the work continues through the hands of the next generation.

With infinite gratitude to the spirit of Dolly Parton. A woman who influenced so many, including me. I felt that she exuded so much love simply by being herself. I’m feeling shocked, even though I didn’t know her, and also trepidatious about looking at any memorials or tributes because it’s just too sad. She was so symbolic throughout my entire life, especially regarding women’s empowerment, owning your inner and outward beauty, sharing the power of creativity, daring to go after your dreams, & not being afraid of what people think. I haven’t had a moment to really process it, but there are so many films and songs and things that will never be the same again because she’s gone. I guess I thought we had more time with this precious and elegant lady. Rest in peace, beautiful Dolly.
