Earlier this year, I collaborated with GOBI to host a workshop for Staring at the Sun by Christine Yerie Lee, inspired by the story of Bulgasari, the creature made of rice that eats metal and becomes a guardian against fire and nightmares.

Together, we pressed a flower, a seed, and a few grains of rice into silver metal clay before placing them into the flame. As they burned away, they left behind their exact impressions, preserved as silver pendants, we made a small talisman carrying the memory of something already gone.

Watching everyone make their own piece reminded me that making is really an act of paying attention. The same materials passed through many hands, yet every pendant became deeply personal. It reaffirmed why I make jewelry. It is to create space for memory, imagination, and connection.

I’ve always dreamed of working with glass, and I finally got the chance to make a lamp✨
I loved seeing how molten glass moves, how it wants to flow, fall, and settle in its own time. There’s something so joyful about watching a material transform.
Glass is such a beautiful material for lighting. It lets light shine through and reveals every texture. These pieces even picked up the texture of the sand from casting, preserving those marks as part of their story.
