Ceylon and Madagascar are the known sources. But Burma and Nigeria produce them too, each with their own variation of that colour. Two stones from the same mine can look completely different.

The halo does something practical here: a 1 carat centre stone reads significantly larger with diamonds surrounding it. Nobody looks at this ring and thinks about carats. The setting also comes with a matching wedding band that follows the arc of the engagement ring.
