The Bulova Oceanographer “Devil Diver” is a faithful revival of the original 1972 Bulova Oceanographer dive watch, with a playful appeal.

The polished case has an incomparable wrist presence even with the moderate size. The vertical case sides have a pleasingly solid visual weight despite the sloping curve around the wrist. The bezel feels robust with the precise and oddly satisfying 120 clicks. The acrylic bezel insert adds a vintage touch to the Oceanographer "Devil Diver," with a glossy finish and a vibrant green and black scale.

The crystal is double domed box sapphire that adds to the vintage feel. The cyclops magnifier above the date window is another neat detail. The screw-down pillbox crown is simple and functional, and is topped with the brand's throwback text logo.

The sector dial design along, the applied Bulova logo, the namesake "666 Feet" dial text, are all carried over from the original. Instead of simple printed lume plots or polished metal markers, the Devil Diver indices have a miniature crystal cylinder mounted in a metal frame resembling a diamond setting, with lume at the bottom of the cylinder. These indices have been an Oceanographer trademark, and results in adding miles of visual depth to the dial.

The new Oceanographer is powered by the Miyota 821D automatic movement. With impressive accuracy, the watch averages +8.4 seconds per day and boasts a power reserve of 42 hours.

The Orient Kamasu comes as a successor to the Mako I and Mako II in terms of the brand’s dive watches. The price makes this piece an affordable do-it-all watch for the youngster looking for his first watch.

The case has alternating brushed and highly polished surfaces and the crown is signed, distinguishing it as the horological heavyweight it is, from lightweight fashion watches.

The lumed indices stand out to the point that one doubts whether it’s Seiko’s proprietary LumiBrite. The bezel feels sturdy and seems right in place over the metallic blue dial. The seconds hand has a red tip that adds a splash of color to the otherwise mainstream dive watch look that it has going. The oyster bracelet with hollow end links, feels substantial on the wrist. There is very little play and does not taper like many modern counterparts.

The movement here is the Orient Caliber F6922, that manages an accuracy of upto +15 seconds a day. Along with the hacking and hand winding functions, comes a beautiful seconds hand sweep that puts many high-end automatic watches to shame.

Citizen introduced a titanium diver with a water resistance rating of 1300m in 1982. The watch featured a left-mounted crown, screws at the case corners, and a strong quartz movement. With the Citizen Promaster BN0220, we now have a worthy, albeit lower-spec, replacement.

A hardened mineral glass crystal is surrounded by a 60-click unidirectional bezel. The finish on the case is slightly rough, reminiscent of cast iron parts. It extends upward at the corners to protect the bezel, giving it a tactile appearance that stands out. The dial on this watch is legible, but the date window is nearly invisible. The chunky hands complement the bold indices with gold surrounds.

The watch has a power reserve of up to 6 months thanks to the proprietary Eco-Drive movement and the power saver mode.

The Hamilton Intra-Matic Chronograph is a vintage-inspired piece which brings about a classic and refined appeal.

The Panda dial is a showstopper and with the unmatched symmetry on the dial, this watch beats most chronographs in the looks department. The Laurel Alpinist was Seiko's first tool watch for Japanese mountaineers, released in 1959. The SARB017 and SPB121 are the most popular current Alpinists. However, in 2021, Seiko released the 'Baby Alpinist' line, which features watches with smaller cases and no inner rotating bezel, and is more true to the original model. The Baby Alpinist is available with green (SPB155), black (SPB159), and blue dials (SPB157). In terms of sturdiness and style, the watch can be compared to the Rolex Explorer.

The dial layout is what makes the Baby Alpinist such a great piece—a combination of elegance and functionality—beginning with the Arabic numerals on the even markers and the shark-tooth markers on the odd markers. Because all of the markers are the same length, the dial has perfect symmetry. The markers are painted yellow, which stands out against the dial's sandy texture. Another lovely touch from Seiko's artisans is the framing of the date window. The cathedral handset gives the watch a vintage feel, and the red seconds hand tip adds a nice pop of colour.

The original Alpinist lineup was intended for Japanese mountaineers in the 60s and it wasn’t until later 2000s that Seiko brought about the phenomenon that checked a lot of boxes for most watch nuts- a reliable, robust, affordable piece that was beautifully built. The Seiko SPB121J1 replaces the original Alpinist, the SARB017.

The Alpinist is a serious tool watch, with 200m of water resistance, bright luminescent on the hands and markers. The internal rotating bezel functions as a compass. A cyclops lens now displays the date window, which brings a totally different allure to the legend of a piece.

The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 was first unveiled in 1978 under the "Seastar" nametag. The name PRX was later registered, where P stood for Precise, R for Robust and the X, here the Roman numeral, refers to the 10 bars water resistance.

The shaped case of the PRX, along with the brushed surfaces, polished facets and raised bezel, complement the "raised honeycomb" motif of the dial. The classic "integrated" style bracelet carries the case lines directly into the bracelet without using traditional lugs.
