“Even a brick wants to be something.” – Louis Kahn

Many people ask me why I choose concrete as the main material for my jewelry. The reason is quite personal.

Back when I worked in a spatial design firm, designing store interiors for big brands, there was a material library along the hallway to the restroom. Every day, I walked past it, mesmerized by the beautiful architectural materials inside. I couldn't help but think—these materials are more than just materials.

What if they could be transformed into something else?
Something delicate.
Something that would bring joy to women.

During my time in architecture grad school, I had already experimented with concrete—a material that is both versatile and easy to shape. With a bit of experience and a passion for creation, I started exploring mold-making, invested in my own 3D printer, and step by step, Doty Chou Objects was born in my small room.

From architecture to jewelry, from raw materials to wearable art—this is my journey.

We repurposed our in-house recycled concrete from classic black & grey concrete jewelry collection, combined with glass and gold-filled elements, to create these stunning earrings—giving new life to sustainable materials. It started with simple curiosity—what would happen if we combined 24K gold with concrete and poured it into glass? Unexpectedly, we created a sense of nobility from these three materials - concrete, gold, and glass.

This is how the Glass Sphere Concrete Collection was born. We then developed a series of products including drop earrings, ear studs, necklaces, and more. It has become our signature line and remains one of our bestselling collections.
