Well, it's become apparent, that most people don't really know what to do to make it easier for us to find their lost item. So I'm going to give you some tips in the event that you happen to lose a ring or a watch or bracelet or something in the water.
Water searches just by their nature are more difficult and far more time-consuming than a dry sand search. If you're in the water and you happen to lose a ring or a watch or some item of jewelry, the first thing you should do is stop right where you felt it come off oh, and if you were throwing the ball or a frisbee or making some motion that would cause it to fly remember which direction it went... Turn and look at the shore and look to your right 45° and pick out a landmark then turn to your left 45° and pick out another landmark and if you look straight ahead of you after that and pick out a landmark, you will have three points of reference to triangulate back from. Also the time of day and day of the month and how deep you were in the water or far out you were from the water's edge is vital. Because of the changing tides you could have been standing in waist-deep water at 1 in the afternoon but at 9 the next morning it might be up to your shoulders. So that's some Vital Information that will make anybody who's searching for its life easier. Also the sooner you can get somebody out to look for it the better, on a public beach time is your enemy. Because of the amount of people who metal detect in this area both on the dry sand and in the water, you really need to either stay there and watch the area where it was lost while you get somebody to come out or be sure and Post a flyer in the area that you lost it in case somebody in that area happens to detect it. Also several of the lifeguards and most of the condo and hotel staff at the main desk can help you find somebody to come out and look.
Hopefully you never need my services, but if you do please get this information for me so that I have to spend the least amount of time searching for your lost item and get it returned to you as quickly as possible. Just remember, time is money...
