Don't forget, if you've lost an item with metal in it, the sooner you get someone to search for it, the better your chances are of finding it.

Ok then, it's been a very long time in coming (since April 2014 to be exact) but I'm finally adding a Minelab CTX3030 to the "toolbox" of Professional grade equipment I have at my disposal to use in looking for those lost items you need me to find...

Got confirmation this afternoon, my CTX3030 with 17 inch and 6 inch coils, and Andy Sabisch's book on the CTX3030 have shipped! Props to Rich at Colonial Metal Detectors for a speedy job! It's scheduled for delivery on Friday...

Ohhhh yeahhhhh! Me and the MX Sport got to do a little detecting today. The only thing is all I got was a handful of nails some screws and some wire and a piece of a can. Well, okay and I did get one 1968 copper penny. But that's all right because I was out looking for nails. Customer had his roof redone couple of weeks ago and the roofing guys ran a magnet over the yard but they certainly didn't get everything. I said I'd come by and do a quick scouting run and see if it was worthwhile to have me do the whole yard, and by golly it sure is and while I'm in the process I get to do the whole yard. How often do you actually go out looking for trash and get treasure? Normally for me it's the other way around...

Most of you know I had a ring search to go on today. Unfortunately I did not find the ring we were looking for. I'm afraid it may not have been there any longer as it had been almost 2 weeks since it was lost. It's a shame too, the folks that lost it were real nice. I did suggest since it was near the playground equipment but maybe a young child saw it and picked it up. Maybe they could put up reward posters around the playground equipment and one of the parents might see that and realize that it was a ring that their kid brought home.

That being said, I did indeed find a gold ring there. 14-karat gold women fact look like it was for a child or a very small lady, it was a horseshoe on a gold band with some sort of diamond like stones in it. Also in the jewelry department, I found some little round Stone in a setting they had a piece of chain glued or welded to the back of it. The things tiny it's in the picture with the coins for size reference.

And, I got a few coins that I just couldn't pass up. They were right on the surface so I picked them up. Yeah I know, they don't sound like gold but I was snagging every Target that chimed off with a good solid signal. Hence the reason for all the trash in the last picture.

Ok! I'm approved by the New Orleans parks dept to search for the ring, and I've coordinated with the owner of the ring to meet up so she can show me where she thinks she lost it. Stay tuned!

I am currently traveling, and not in the Panama City Beach area but... I do have a very capable and competent detectorist filling in for me while I'm gone. His name is Kurt and he will be contacting you if you happen to need our service.

I will be in Pensacola the first 2 weeks of April 2021 and then after that I'll be in New Orleans for an unspecified amount of time. So I will be able to help people out in Pensacola and New Orleans area while Kurt will still be covering the beaches in Panama City Beach and the surrounding area.

And in other news, I picked up yet another machine to use as a backup water machine. And while I've had no problems with my go to water machine, it's always good to have a backup!

Okay! I've got another successful recovery to tell you about. I haven't been called out recently so I've been out for myself just metal detecting on the beach, and I was in a spot that I like to hit on a regular basis today when a fellow hollered over to me hey mister! Can that thing find rings? So I looked at him and I said "absolutely, that's what this thing does best" (I was using my new Equinox 800 at the time) and I walked over to where he and another fellow and a woman were standing, the other guy said I had it in my drink holder on my beach chair and when I picked the chair up it fell into the sand. It should be right here and pointed down. Well I had him back off with the chair and clear the area for me and in about three swings I heard that beautiful sweet sound of gold. I scooped it up and gave it to him and said here you go! Probably all of a 2-minute search LOL. But regardless it was a wedding ring that probably would not have gotten found had it not been for somebody out there with a metal detector.

Well, it's become apparent, that most people don't really know what to do to make it easier for us to find their lost item. So I'm going to give you some tips in the event that you happen to lose a ring or a watch or bracelet or something in the water.

Water searches just by their nature are more difficult and far more time-consuming than a dry sand search. If you're in the water and you happen to lose a ring or a watch or some item of jewelry, the first thing you should do is stop right where you felt it come off oh, and if you were throwing the ball or a frisbee or making some motion that would cause it to fly remember which direction it went... Turn and look at the shore and look to your right 45° and pick out a landmark then turn to your left 45° and pick out another landmark and if you look straight ahead of you after that and pick out a landmark, you will have three points of reference to triangulate back from. Also the time of day and day of the month and how deep you were in the water or far out you were from the water's edge is vital. Because of the changing tides you could have been standing in waist-deep water at 1 in the afternoon but at 9 the next morning it might be up to your shoulders. So that's some Vital Information that will make anybody who's searching for its life easier. Also the sooner you can get somebody out to look for it the better, on a public beach time is your enemy. Because of the amount of people who metal detect in this area both on the dry sand and in the water, you really need to either stay there and watch the area where it was lost while you get somebody to come out or be sure and Post a flyer in the area that you lost it in case somebody in that area happens to detect it. Also several of the lifeguards and most of the condo and hotel staff at the main desk can help you find somebody to come out and look.

Hopefully you never need my services, but if you do please get this information for me so that I have to spend the least amount of time searching for your lost item and get it returned to you as quickly as possible. Just remember, time is money...

Well, it's another call out for MDLS... this one's been gone a few days, and it's going to be a bigger area than I usually search, but we're going to go give it a try and see if we can reunite this ring set with its heartbroken owner. Stay tuned for further updates, I'm going in the morning.

Another call out for 2 lost rings and another visitor goes home happy!
