Alyse is still on “THE LIST” for a kidney!
LIVING DONOR or Deceased Donor

We still get lots of questions:
1. Does that mean she in no longer looking for a LIVING DONOR?
NO. As we know, living donor is ideal (better for her since she’s so young/ will last longer/ and logistically would be so much easier- plus she could get treatment before transplant).
2. Does she still do dialysis?
YES- every single night for 12 hours! When we go places- the equipment and all the supplies come too! But, Being on the deceased donor list, we can’t go far.
3. Why list her on the deceased list?
Most kids are not on dialysis as long as she has been and she is READY (to start a new life with a new kidney) AND her body is ready. We are now seeing the ramifications of prolonged dialysis on her body- She’s tired…….ITS TIME!
4. What will she do about college?
She finished her first semester of college on the PRESIDENTS LIST- ALL A’s. Classes started today and she has all of her classes for the Spring scheduled for online so hopefully she won’t skip a beat!
5. What if we know someone who suddenly and unexpectedly passes away? Can she get their organs?
YES!!!!! You can request who organs go to if you know someone in need!
Coordinator to Coordinators talk and see if it’s a match! All you have to do is coordinate with Tina Stanley or Tricia Soulas at CINCINNATI CHILDRENS!
Don’t take your organs to Heaven….Heaven knows we need them here! (Andy’s grandfathers bumper sticker from YEARS AGO).
6. I’ve tried to donate but I was denied?
Just as bad as we want a new kidney for Alyse it has to be safe for YOU TOO! Like it or not- As we all age so does our kidney function. It has to be TOTALLY SAFE for YOU TOO- just as it was for me 6 years ago
😳
7. Why is it taking so long for her to get the call?
Unfortunately, we were given high hopes that we would get the call, but they thought she would be in and out of the hospital before or during the holidays and that did not happen.
Not only there were no kidneys available with in the 250mile radius of Cincinnati, but we also found out CHNOLA didn’t have either.
8. Why Cincinnati?
After Alyse’s first transplant (2018), she had a lot of post op complications that eventually caused her new kidney to fail. She fought it for 2 years and during that time Cincinnati Childrens got all of her blood and biopsy samples and are READY to handle the next transplant (anticipating complications again).
9.How do I even see if I’m a match?
Below is the link. Starts with questions, then labs at Quest/ LabCorp, then oral swab and then scans!
10. I’m not a match, how can I still help?
There is always the PAIRED KIDNEY EXCHANGE- coordinators can better explain
But
PLEASE SHARE this post- her PERFECT DONOR IS OUT THERE!!!!
