Interesting Item of the Month:
This is a sterling silver set designed and created by a local silversmith who has since passed away. His name was Leon J. Swankhammer and he created jewelry locally for many years. His son has followed in his footsteps and is still creating beautiful work to this day. His initials are on the back and we called his son to confirm this was one of his pieces. The necklace has traditional Navajo designs such as the squash blossoms and a horseshoe shaped pendant called a naja with flower accents. The set is currently available in store.

Rare Find: This 1975 Sovereign Nation of the Osage large tribal peace medal struck by the Medallic Art Company (MACO) is currently for sale in store.

It weighs roughly 244.4 grams (about 7.86 troy ounces) of .999 fine silver and measures approximately 89.8 x 61.9 mm, featuring an integrated suspension loop.

It features the portrait and name of Sylvester J. Tinker (Wah-Sho-Shah), Principal Chief of the Osage Nation from 1970 to 1982, and is inscribed with "SOVEREIGN NATION OF THE OSAGE". It is inscribed on the reverse with "PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP" along with the names and likenesses of the ten principal chiefs who led the Osage prior to Chief Tinker back to the 1870s.

It was modeled after historic U.S. Indian Peace Medals, but was actually uniquely commissioned and distributed by the tribe itself. Chief Sylvester J. Tinker famously presented a solid silver specimen of this exact medal to Pope Paul VI at the Vatican on April 2, 1975.

Only about 400 serial-numbered pieces were struck in fine silver, individually edge-marked with "MACO," "FINE SILVER," and a serial number. This one is number 158.

This is a custom pendant set that I made for a musician friend of mine. They can be worn on leather cords individually or together. The inspiration for the designs come from the energy vortex of creation. The colors align with certain subjects or emotions. For example, the gold=money, green=healing, red=passion, or blue=serenity.

One of my passions in life is fly fishing and this is a sterling silver 2.5 inch brown trout hat pin that I made for a friend who shares that passion. I enameled the spots for a little extra color.

Another custom job in the books!
The customer supplied the diamonds and we supplied the white gold band. I set the main diamond into the band with a yellow gold bezel for added detail and set the remaining diamonds in descending order on either side with a bead of gold in between each for aesthetic and added security.
