What's inspiring you this week?

For work this week, I spent a lot of time in Detroit monitoring construction on an archaeological site. Having spent a lot of time in Detroit for work in recent years, I have always seen morning glory vines in odd areas. Usually adorning alleys, driveways, along fences by houses, all which make sense...but never in the middle of a parking lot. Even though they're pretty, they are invasive plants and have a tendency to drown out any other plant in their vicinity...but I found their growth in this parking lot to be slightly inspiring. Growing strong despite their environment.

What inspires you these days?

A friend asked me what my favorite frog was. I had to really think about it. I picked spring peepers because I love hearing them come back in the spring, and they remind me of warm summer nights. I think I need to woodburn a few of these small guys.

My full time job is as an archaeologist, working in environmental compliance and consulting. I was on a fieldwork project over the past few days, and while the entire place was covered in poison ivy...there were many pretty flowering plants. Made friends with a heron who lives in the nearby marsh. I need to woodburn one of those guys too.

I've been experimenting with wool felting lately. I do plan on selling a fre of them, but the early ones are always a bit rough and the process needs to be honed a bit. Not bad for my first ones, though. So far I've made mice, bears, frogs and bunnies. Would love suggestions. That mouse is looking at me like, πŸ‘€ πŸ‘πŸ‘ I also shared a couple of mouse arrangements that I made for friends recently.

I didn't have a ton of time in the past two months to put together much creature or cryptid themed material for today's market, which is a huge bummer. If you know me personally, you understand that I go hard for both of those things. However, I did have the chance to experiment with making more Little Guys (a loose and slightly amorphous category of creatures, I'm sure), both on wood and in wool.
