Parenting in the digital age can be challenging. Families today are faced with important decisions about technology use, online safety, screen time, and determining when children are ready for their first device.

๐Ÿค National PTA and AT&T have partnered to help parents and caregivers navigate these challenges through the Ready, Tech, Go! program.

๐Ÿ“š PTA leaders are invited to participate in a FREE 30-minute training designed to:
โœ… Provide information on online safety and screen readiness
โœ… Prepare your PTA to host a program in your local community
โœ… Share resources for elementary-aged families and caregivers

๐ŸŽ Participants will receive a $25 gift card for attending! No obligation.

โค๏ธ In addition, Alabama PTA will receive a donation from National PTA based on the number of Alabama participants who attend the training.

We made it! As the school year comes to a close, weโ€™re sending our best wishes to our students, families, and entire school community for a fun, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break!

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this year a success. It truly takes a team, and we are grateful for the time, care, and commitment that made a difference in the lives of our children.

Now itโ€™s time to recharge, make memories, and enjoy every moment.

Whether you're traveling, spending time with loved ones, or simply soaking up some sunshine, we hope your summer is filled with joy and laughter.

Congratulations!

Eight new leaves were added this week to the Giving Tree at MCPSS Central Office, which recognizes educators who were named Teacher of the Year or have earned state or national awards. Joining the tree this year are: MCPSS Teachers of the Year Jennifer Asberry of Council Traditional, Daniela Yunker of Barton Academy and Dr. Chelsea Tanous of Davidson High; Stephanie Bondora of Davidson, the Alabama State Science Teacher of Promise;
Brenda Box of Mary G. Montgomery, the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals Assistant Principal of the Year; Keisha Mack of B.T. Washington Middle and Dr. Mary Alice Pouliot of Barton Academy, who each won the LAMP Award of Exceptional Service to Alabama Libraries; and Jae Lynne Yerena of Grand Bay Middle, the Alabama Art Education Association's New Art Educator of the Year. They were joined at the ceremony by their principals, MCPSS Superintendent Chresal D. Threadgill, and school board members Sherry Dillihay-McDade and Don Stringfellow.

Weโ€™re excited to announce that ALL MPRD Splash Pads are now open for summer fun across the city!

MPRD pools will open in phases as we complete staffing, inspections, and final preparations to ensure a safe and welcoming experience for everyone.

Rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders can find out about the programs MCPSS Career Technical Centers have to offer during a Career Exploration Summer Camp this summer! Camps will be held at two sites -- Faulkner Career Technical Center and Citronelle Center for Advanced Technology -- on June 8-11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Students will rotate through various hands-on activities in a variety of programs, including culinary, advertising design, construction, automotive repair, cosmetology, welding and more.

Congratulations, Ms. Asberry!

Jennifer Asberry of Council Traditional School, the Mobile County Public Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year, was recognized in Montgomery as one of the Sweet Sixteen finalists for Alabama Teacher of the Year! โ€‹Joined by Council Principal Allison Streeter, she was honored at a luncheon and a formal awards ceremony at the beautiful Alabama Shakespeare Festival Theater, where she was presented with a commemorative plaque and prizes from several generous sponsors. She and and her fellow finalists were also recognized by State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey and presented with a formal resolution during the State Board of Education meeting. Congratulations!
