We love homies who support homies shout out to the talented, the wonderful, the lovely for inviting me to join this drag show market !! I actually wasn't planning on doing any more markets for a while mostly because it's just not smart for me to. Lemme explain; my art is such a niche it's sometimes too taboo. sometimes it's jailed and only allowed to be out during certain times, sometimes the crowd isn't a good match and I can feel them intentionally avoid my booth, laugh, or outside factors come into play like the weather affects foot traffic etc. A lot of the time a market only gets me maybe some new followers which is why I kept doing them dispute making so little. I often don't even break even or make my booth fee back. I had planned on taking some time off and not doing any markets instead stocking up products and investing in my booth & try to get into a big market like curiosity and oddities. But even on days I'm in the hole it's never a total loss. I've found a community of friends who also brave the market business adventures alongside me, who always make sure I never go home empty handed. Lovely vendors who always do art trades with me and are my most frequent customers. fr Most my sales come during the last hour always from other vendors who are also selling at the same market. I appreciate them so much more than they could ever know. Sometimes it's not about making money but building community. I'm so grateful to be a part of the Oklahoma vendor community, to be thought of and invited/ including in an event like this is everything to me.
