Gold bullion has gone well over $5000 an oz. The meme, while funny within the industry, suggests something very real. The small retail jeweler, used to large markups will have to get used to doing business differently. Anything made of gold is expensive and it’s expensive to stock any quantity. A new 5 gram 14kt ring blank can cost $600 wholesale.
The consumer will also have to think differently about their jewelry purchases.

That said, here at Benedon’s our business mentality and method of operating has always been wholesale and deep discount. So, while it’s perceptually expensive, it’s less expensive, here, if we have it.
