Isaac shares the most valuable take away from the Antwerp trip:
“The journey from the earth’s depths to a finished piece of jewelry is nothing short of incredible. Diamonds are ancient, older than trees, and having the chance to work with something so historic is a constant inspiration. Hand-selecting stones in Antwerp allows me to bring something truly special back to my clients. I take pride in the fact that when you wear one of our pieces, you know your diamond was hand-picked from the source with your story in mind.”

Curator in Chief Megan was also thrilled to return to Belgium. Pictured below, she tries her hand at polishing a diamond.

“I find it fascinating to talk to the staff at the diamond offices. They have such a unique insight into the trends in this business and challenges keeping up with them. For example, marquise diamonds are very hot right now, but haven't been for a while, so nobody was really cutting them. They also take longer to cut than round diamonds, and need a larger rough diamond to start with. I also learned the tricks to polishing a diamond that has been chipped or has been poorly cut. I hope to return for the next trip in October to buy more diamonds for holiday shopping!”

Owner Jeff Samuels shares that the learning never ends:
“My experience in Antwerp and London this year was outstanding! I was on a trajectory toward retiring and selling the jewelry store when Isaac surprised me in November by working in the business to help out for the holidays. He fell in love with the business and now wants to grow and improve it for the next generation.
It also has helped me understand my favorite part of my role here at the store: educator. I love teaching clients about gems and jewelry, and I love teaching my team about diamonds and polishing and how to help clients achieve their goals of gifting.”

Curator Morgan shares her thoughts on her recent trip acquiring diamonds for her clients:

“I absolutely loved my time spent in Belgium! My first trip to the diamond capital was in 2024 and so much has changed in that short time. I found it interesting and educational speaking with worldwide diamond dealers about their opinions and experiences, especially regarding synthetic and desert diamonds. When we go to Belgium we work hard to find you a true "hidden gem." It is a special feeling hand-selecting diamonds for clients who feel more like family!”

We asked sales associate Isaac Samuels about his experience while in Antwerp! Here’s what he had to share:

“Returning to Belgium felt like a full-circle moment. I first visited the diamond offices when I was twelve but seeing them now as an industry professional was an entirely different experience. There is no substitute for sorting through thousands of stones, and it refined my understanding of the 4Cs more than any textbook ever could. Outside of the office, the trip gave me a fresh perspective on heritage. It’s incredible to work within an industry that has been thriving in Europe since long before the U.S. was founded.”
